I hiked through Anza Borrego yesterday afternoon and spent the night in Plum Canyon. There were TONS of Hadrurus! I barely stepped 10 paces outside my tent and found one! The largest one I found was I think 5" give or take half an inch. I kept this one 'til morning so I could photograph it. Here's a few pics.
i really like the agave pic. see any tarantulas out there ever?
Thanks. Actually, my girlfriend took that pic.
I haven't really looked for tarantulas out there. I always thought the terrain would be too arid for them, but I could be wrong. I know there's tarantulas all along the part of the 79 before you come down the mountains into the desert though.
Unfortunately I didn't get to see any sidewinders, which is what I really wanted to see! It must've been too cold and windy.
i bet you anza borrego is LOADED with tarantulas. actually, i know there is a very very beautiful blonde species with BRIGHT PINK setae all over the legs that is found on the south end of anza. ive found them and tehy are stunning! you should definitely keep an eye opened next time. _________________ i vow to never belong to anyone born from this soil
I went to a desert called Anza-Bereggo. I saw lots of mountains. It was a long trip. I saw a very neat catterpillar. There was many bugs, there was also many red ants nests!
