Anyone down for a camping trip between those 2 dates?  I'm thinking Joshua Tree, Mojave, or a road trip up North somewhere.

Kyle.

This could be fun.

It would be cool to go to Mojave Smile.

I don't want to commit just yet though, let's get a date going and see who can make it then.

-The gray witch is going- party is on the 4th, that leaves the weekend of the 11th to do this. (sorry, can't make it during the week).

J-tree sounds fun before it gets too hot.

You got plenty time for the butterfly jungle event, it runs April 4-26. Let me know if you need tickets to the Wild Animal Park.

I expect this to be a non-collecting zone, correct?
Either way it should yield lots of opportunities to observe and photograph great wildlife as well as flora Smile.

Yeah but the longer you wait, the more beat-up the butterflies are  Crying or Very sad .  We've got annual passes so tickets aren't a problem.

Balam, I'd really like to make this a 2-nighter if at all possible.  Yes, this will be a no collecting zone (if J-tree is officially where we're going).

Are you guys up for backpacking?  I really don't want to camp in the campgrounds; its way more fun to camp back-country!

Two night event sounds good.
I have to get my Cal Permit ready Sad
Back country would really be cool, but we need to make sure everyone that is going understands the inherent hazards that may pose. (which aren't biggies anyway).

We can always take Warren's pic and put it outside the tents to scare away anything that wants to comer close :p

I suppose we don't have to backpack.  I think it'll be easier on those who haven't done it before and don't have the equipment.  Ryan campground is a pretty good place to camp.

I'll be backpacking in Sequoia National Park next week anyway so I might be a little tired Smile

Bah,

I must be daft or something. It just didn't register with me that it's Easter weekend. It maybe a little Hallmark-ish,  but I would like my son to join in the little egg-hunt at the park down the street.

Maybe another time Sad

i believe there are plenty of peripheral places around the no-catch-zones that can be legally and like, morally collected.  you would need to get the coords of all the NCZ's and keep checking GPSses

is there any more developments on this potential trip?

Do you guys want to do get there friday, camp friday night and saturday night and leave on sunday?  or do you guys just want to do drive up saturday morning and camp saturday night and leave on sunday?

Also, I checked the weather and it'll be a high of 62 on saturday and 70 on sunday.  This might not be a good weekend for bugs/herps.  Edit:  But we'll still have an awesome time!
