Found this guy/gal in my chicken coop yesterday:
(I think it's a girl). Kept her around until today so I could show her to the kid, then let her go right back where I found her. I hope she puts a dent in the rat population out there in that coop... (I also hope she doesn't eat a rat that has eaten rat bait anywhere around here -- I lost a dog that way a few years back... Someone in the neighborhood must have put out rat bait back then, and one of my foster dogs ate a rat that had eaten some and died a horrible death in the emergency room. I distributed flyers all around the area asking people NOT to put out rat bait, but people are stupid so they probably still are...)
She's pretty beat up, with lots of scars and a bad left eye. But strong and feisty. Wouldn't it be cool if we found lots of little baby Gopher Snakes in the yard later in the year?!

Nice! No better place to find one of those! Did she calm down easily? A lot of the ones I've come across were feisty at first them became nice and kicked back. _________________ "I hold your opinion above all others, tribe elder." - Neshan W. Sarkisian
I have CDO. It's like OCD, but the letters are in alphabetical order, like they should be. |

She was gentle as a lamb when I caught her on Saturday, but was kind of grumpy when I showed her to the kid on Sunday (huffing at me and acting pretty agitated). I was going to get a picture of my son holding her, but she was too upset. (Maybe she wasn't too happy about having to spend the night in a cage in my garage...)
