This is a very informal accounting of what species of non-theraphosidae mygalomorphs appear in the 50 United States of America (plus the District of Columbia). In no way can the claims made here be taken as true or absolute, as most are just random internet references. The indicated presence or absence of non-theraphosidae mygalomorphs for various states should definitely be taken with a grain of salt, as some "records" are not very good at all. (note on short/summary lists below: they are not complete or correct yet and will be changing as more research is done)
So far there are 7 states with no clear and easy indication of mygalomorphs present: DE, IA, ME, ND, NH, VT, and WY
A few of the other states have only a single record or records of dubious merit: NH
Some states have mygalomorph species that are species of concern, special note, or are otherwise endangered: NH, RI, CT, VA, MD
There may be people who like centipedes. I have seen people handling tarantulas and scorpions, but never a centipede handler. I would regard such a person with deep suspicion...Now what sort of man or woman or monster would stroke a centipede on its underbelly "And here is my big good centipede." If such a man exists, I say kill him without more ado. He is a traitor to the human race.
