Lasiodora difficilis Mating Project.

Male hooked out: 7/5/09

Initial introduction into the tank on 7/7/09.
The male was placed in a container of its own and that container was, in turn, placed inside of the females enclosure.

Male drummed the second night he was in there. 7/9/09.

-I opened his container on 7/10/09 and the female chased him around all over the enclosure.

-She was then placed in a container of her own and the male was let loose to roam her large enclosure.

-On 7/13/09 the female was let loose... she chased the male into oblivion once again.

-The male was housed in a container within the female's enclosure for the next four days.

-On 7/17/09 the male's container was extracted from the female's enclosure.

-Female molted on 7/18/09.

-Male's container was re-introduced into female's enclosure on the morning of 7/20/09.

We'll see Wink

Hello

Oscar, I think that a week or two would be much better.

Not one or two days.

Yeah...for a T that big, a week or closer to 2 would be better/safer.

sounds good. I also want to make sure she eats her fill before attempting to mate her.

She ate her fill... and more. She ended up devouring the male.
Insertions are not confirmed.

She has plumped up a little, and is eating like a pig.

The waiting game is on.

Second male:

Her abdomen remained plump and she had not been feed for at least two weeks.

Mating was attempted on 9/19/09 with a male provided by FTorres, but it was not successful, however it is good to note she was receptive to the male, tapping like crazy and just waiting to be lifted.

Mating attempt #2 on 9/20/09 with the same male, drumming for a good 10 minutes. The male approached in an awkward position and he had to readjust many times.
She initiated contact by coming forward to the male a couple of times.
The male was finally able to get is hooks in place and lifted her, wasting no time he introduced both palps for at least 12 seconds.
He literally bent the female so far back that her front legs nearly touched the ground behind her, then he made the fastest dash I've seen, she nearly got him as she tried to flip forward and get a piece of him.

Successful insertions and here's hoping she gives an eggsac soon enough.
