I received a 7" S. subspinipes last week. It is my first pede. While initially very active now it is very lethargic--laying in one place with only the very tips of its antennae moving on occasion. I tried to feed it crickets Sunday and it showed no interest in them whatsoever. I've tried to up the humidity by making the substrate fairly damp (but not flooded) and have it in a warm place. Is it sick? In premolt? Just chillin'? Thanks. _________________ To be the man, you gotta beat the man. Woooooo!
it is hard to say from that brief description. do you know any history of the pede? a lot of the large subspinipes have a ROUGH trip over to the states and seem to waste away a higher than normal percentage of the time :/
you can try prekilling a cricket and leaving it for it to find. i actually prekilled for virtually all of my centipedes when i was mass feeding... the stupid centipedes would run away from live food sometimes

There may be people who like centipedes. I have seen people handling tarantulas and scorpions, but never a centipede handler. I would regard such a person with deep suspicion...Now what sort of man or woman or monster would stroke a centipede on its underbelly "And here is my big good centipede." If such a man exists, I say kill him without more ado. He is a traitor to the human race.
