Just thought I'd share -- I found this gal clutching an egg sac outside the building where I work. She was setting up shop next to a wall where she could easily be seen my people and killed out of ingorance/ fear. I put her in a styrofoam cup and took her to my desk and googled a few terms to ID her. Sure enough, Peucetia viridans. I've seen plenty of pics before, but hadn't seen one in person until today - gorgeous spider! I also didn't know that clump of dirt was an egg sac until I found a few pictures online. I took a few pictures, myself (a few decent ones, but all look like this one) and took her back out and placed her behind some flowerpots where she wouldn't be spotted so easily.
There may be people who like centipedes. I have seen people handling tarantulas and scorpions, but never a centipede handler. I would regard such a person with deep suspicion...Now what sort of man or woman or monster would stroke a centipede on its underbelly "And here is my big good centipede." If such a man exists, I say kill him without more ado. He is a traitor to the human race.
Yeah! I forgot to post a reply last night. She is truly *gorgeous*! I've had Lynx Spiders before, but they were just light green or with slight variations in shades of green. That one is *stunning* with all the yellow and black eyes, spots, and spikes! _________________ "Tarantulas are friends, not food" (but I bet they taste pretty good with butter and lemon!)
Thanks! I was absolutely taken aback by this spider when I saw it. Everything that Celeste mentioned - she was just stunning! I went to check up on her yesterday, but couldn't find her. Hopefully she found a nice hideaway where she won't be bothered.
