Folks,

I traded e-mails with one of the organizers of the SWHS May 10th show at Eaton Canyon, and she said it would be O.K. for scabies to have a table there (or, if it gets too crowded, to share my table).  So we're on!  Somebody will need to design a poster and flyers/handouts and care sheets.  I'll be happy to get stuff printed up if needed.  (And I'll need to get some of that pile of scabies business cards from Nesh).

Info about the SWHS show can be found here:  www.swhs.org

And I'm going to *try* to make the San Gabriel Valley Chapter meeting at Eaton Canyon this Thursday night (3/20/08).

Yes -- and I confirmed with her again a week or two ago, so at the present time scabies has a table of its own.

Y'all better figure out what you wanna do with it!

I'm gonna get another one of those fold out cardboard displays and start sticking stuff on it.  This is the one I have for my Corucia:

I can put "scabies" at the top in big letters, and start printing out some of the cool scabies event pictures (so long as no one has a problem with me using their images) and sticking them on.  But it would be better if we had some good species info or caresheets to hand out, too...

i'll be making some species stuff for the backdrop. i was thinking of one page showing sex dimorpho for mature/near mature spiders

i'll also make little quarter sheet handouts for various species.

http://www.swhs.org/web-content/Images/flyer_may_10.pdf  <-- event flyer

i will be there the whole time (10a - 4p). should i show up early to set up? probably, hunh?

i am going to bring:
Calisoga longitarsus
Tiger centipede(s)
Chocolate Face the Wonder Aphonopelma (CA native)
Local Vaejovidae scorps

All in spartan display cages.

I was figuring on doing a quarter sheet handout for all the species we bring. If you want me to do a write up for your species, let me know what you are going to bring ASAP!

I'll be there the entire time, and the scabies table will be right next to mine so I can cover it if no one else is there.

I should get there around 9 am (or 9:30 at the latest) to set up.

Here's the flyer:

I'll bring another of those tri-fold poster boards (like the one I show above for the Corucia), so you guys can decorate it!

I also have the box of scabies cards from Nesh, and will bring those as well.

Don't bring too many bugs, because we're only going to have (at most) one table and maybe a part of mine. So we should coordinate what people are bringing.  Like if everyone brings as many bugs as they brought to the Pet Jungle event, we wouldn't have enough room.  So be thinking in terms of about 1/3 as many as people brought then...

How about if I keep a running list posted HERE?

I can bring some Tiger Hisser roaches -- they are always a big hit with the kids.  And maybe my mommy Flat Rock Scorpion and her two babies (kids could hold the babies).  I'll bring some info sheets on those two species as well.

LIST:

o  Celeste:  Tiger Hisser Roaches and Flat Rock Scorpions (+caresheets)

Nice!  But nobody aside from us is going to know what "fossorial" means...  If you want it to be intended for a general audience, you might want to just say "burrowing" instead...

Andrew:  are you going to be able to print those sheets out?  Or do you need for someone to do that for you?

Also, I think I'm going to try to bring several different species of roaches for the scabies table.  What else are other people bringing?

i am printing out 4-6 sheets of each species (16-24 handouts per species).  so not that many... but i am sort of printing them at ork-way under the radar =P

if you want to print out a few more that would be cool, for sure
