i was filling up at a gas station and i noticed there were lots of bees around. i took a good look at one. they were africanized honey bees. well, i was finnished filling up and one of the bees flew right up my shirt and stung me on the back. i can tell you that africanized bees have a much more painful sting tham a european honey bee. i have never been allergic to bees as ive been stung enough to know. well, this thing is having some frighning affects on my body. i wonder if ive developed an allergy to them. wow, i feel really funky right now...........

Did health insurance cover it???

Or am I to conclude....that you don't have H.I.???

As expensive as it is, it's so damn important to have it.

no insurance..... but they did give me a generous discount for a total of

$525!!!!! WOOOOO!!!!! hospita, you guys rock!!!!
shoot, i can even afford my monthly bills...let alone a hospital bill. this will make my trip very very sketchy! i need money.

ya know, its embarrasing to work you arse off and struggle every month. its embarrasing to look in your bank account and you less tham $100 to your name. how are you supposed to be able to afford an emergency like this or fix your car if it breaks down??

ahhh... the american medical field!...isnt it the greatest!

it's the so-and-so bastards suing doctors all the time. docs have to have malpractice and other insurance up the wazoo

heyman, ifyou can make it out here we can use my car. it has been acting nice lately so i think i can put a decent amount of gentle miles on it w/o worry Smile

and you can eat at my house... it won't be good... but you probably won't die from it either =P

i recently found out i forgot to pay my stinking gas bill for quite some time and they shut it off like a month or so ago.  considering i only ever made a bag of popcorn i am not really missing it... but i have no stove hehehe

Yeah....it sucks.

I make sure to always have health insurance.

One small visit for a consultation can cost you a few hundred, depending on what it's for.

But with health insurance, you just pay a premium.....

I pay about $10-25 for a doctor visit, and the insurance pays the rest.

For a young guy like you or me, GOOD insurance (PPO plan) is anywhere from $100-150 a month......but it ends up paying for itself in the long run....when you really need it.
Also, if you have a half-way decent job, they'll usually set it up for you, or pay/reimburse you for it.

I'll give you an example.
On January 28th of 2007, my dad suffered a stroke.
He was in the hospital for 3 weeks, and then had a new procedure known as "Gamma Knife RadioSurgery" to heal the hemorrhage that had occurred in his cerebellum.

All together, after all the hospitalization, therapy, threatment, etc......

The bill came out to about $200,000

How much did we pay? $1,500

The insurance covered the rest.

God bless health insurance. It more-than-paid for itself in this case.

yeah, that was one of my more civil ones. i wanted to find out if the guy know wtf he was doing. he did Smile

basically my beef is that a lot of ppl seem to think the epipen is a magic fix for gettinga  bad envenomation. not true AT ALL.  it helps, possibly, when youare havinga  bad allergic reaction that is culminating in anaphylactic shock.  it WILL NOT help when you are having a "normal" sting reaction... and in fact can kill you depending on what neurotoxic cocktail has been injected into you. but... in certain situations (such as when, oh... a bee string allergic reaction is about to shut your ass down!) it can really and truly save your life

Josh, try calling the hospital and seeing about a payment plan or getting some of it comp'd.

I have had a couple friends get screwed up by car accidents w/o health insurance. They couldnt pay and the hospital cut the due amount in half and set them up on a payment plan...

Kevin is right.

If you are poor and can prove it, they will generally cut you a lot of slack.

It just takes some effort, but it can be done.

well, they cut the bill in half....it would have been 1000, but they said if i pay within 7 days, it will only be 525. where the hell am i gonna get 525 in 7 days????????????? if i dont pay that within the 7 days, i get to pay a beautiful 1000 dollars! now thats working with the poor at its finest!

i should go stand on a street corner lookin all ragged holding a sign thats says, "will panhandle for money"

just tell them you cant.

they aint gonna put you in jail for it.

To be honest.....paying 1000 over a long period of time (in payments) sounds better than paying 525 in one week.

It's more money gone, but it's gradual, and less noticeable to the weight of your wallet.
