Hi folks,
how about we set up a thread for potential trades/purchases at the June BBQ? For everyone that can attend, we can post what we have to offer as a trade and possibly what we're looking for. That way, we can coordinate some trades fairly easily. Feel free to put your haves and wants as replies to this.
Anyhow, here is what I'll have to trade:
-Adult A. seemani (female?)
-3.5"? B. smithi - female (should molt by the bbq)
-adult H. gigas with custom built enclosure with water habitat
-~5" L. parahybana - male
-~1-1.5" A. gigas (giant African millipedes) I should have about 18 of these (someone forgot to count them )
-a bunch of weird "parasite pals" stuff
Free stuff:
-pillbugs (they're overtaking my millipede setup, so please take some!)
-black widows, funnel webs (plenty in my front/back yard, garage, so feel free to collect as many as you'd like. You can use my tuning fork if you want)
Wanted:
-A. geniculata (non-sling sizes)
-either A. chalcodes or "flagstaff orange"
-B. albopilosum - female
-L. klugi
-G. aureostriata - female
-native toads?
-insectivorous snake?
-etc., etc., etc.
3 male G. aureostriata 4" to 5" size (will trade all three for a female)
2 male L. para 5" to 6"
2 male A. genic 6"
2 unsexed mystery brachys (from previous BBQ) 2 to 2 1/2" (yeah, I put some size on them)
Dubias
Hissers
Blaberus fusca
Whatever no one wants to trade for or buy will go on the raffle table.
I'll definitely want some pillbugs. _________________ "I hold your opinion above all others, tribe elder." - Neshan W. Sarkisian
I have CDO. It's like OCD, but the letters are in alphabetical order, like they should be.
John I have a sub adult female G.aureostriata - female 3"+- that i would trade for the H.gigas.
Lemme no _________________ “Look down at me and you see a fool;

If John doesn't take it maybe I'll buy it? Or trade? Steal? _________________ "I hold your opinion above all others, tribe elder." - Neshan W. Sarkisian

That would be most excellent. I've gone through four so far and all have been males. _________________ "I hold your opinion above all others, tribe elder." - Neshan W. Sarkisian

If anyone has some nice toads for my pond, I'll happily trade a few bird-eating bullfrogs for them! I had no idea a bullfrog could take down birds, but apparently mine excel at it.
Also, add regular ol' A. avics to my list of wants and an emperor scorpion to my list of haves.

I'm not from around here...if I knew where to find toads, I'd joyfully bring you a basketful. Where's the good toad hunting? I'm in Santa Monica, fairly near Temescal Canyon State Park.

Well, we can always have barbecued frogs legs...! _________________ "Tarantulas are friends, not food" (but I bet they taste pretty good with butter and lemon!)
Butter, lemon, maybe some garlic... Clean 'em out, spit 'em on a stick, and roast 'em over a fire. Yummm!!! _________________ "Tarantulas are friends, not food" (but I bet they taste pretty good with butter and lemon!)

Meh. Increasing the range of a non-native species isn't really a great idea.
There aren't really any natural permanent bodies of water around in the desert for a bullfrog to invade. Besides, the idea is to get rid of the non-native bullfrogs to allow some native toads to establish.
I'd rather give the frogs to someone who wants a large, easy-to-take-care-of pet frog, but I wouldn't say no to some frog legs either

I would really like some millipedes but, have nothing to trade. Will you take cash? PM me if interested!
Hmmm... frog legs sound good! I haven't had frog legs since my visit to Singapore. Ah those were the days.
One time a few years ago (not at band camp...) my buddy actually was involved in a bullfrog eradication project with CA. Fish and Game. We "harvested" enough frogs to have a true feast. The only time in my life when I got to eat literally all of the froglegs I wanted. What an experience! I even filmed it. _________________ "I hold your opinion above all others, tribe elder." - Neshan W. Sarkisian

Well, I don't have anything to trade or sell, but I can use some of those free pill bugs. A little short of them out here in the desert. _________________ Greg Hagedorn
1.1 - Lasiodora difficilis
Male is about 5.25" and is kept in a large Kritter Keeper with flower pot hide and water dish.
Female is 7" and is kept in a 24x12x12" tank with sliding lid (replaced screen lid with pegboard) with flower pot hide and water dish.
$170 for the pair.
1.1- Brachypelma smithi
Male is about 5.25" and kept in a Sterilyte tub, about 12x10x7" with flower pot hide and water dish.
Female is about 4" and is kept in a medium Kritter Keeper with flower pot hide and water dish. She last molted on 8/8/08.
$130 for the pair.
I want to sell these only as pairs. If the prices seem too high, make an offer. If you want both pairs, make an offer. This transaction can be made before the BBQ, as well. I'm willing to drive a fair distance to drop them off. I make drives out to Victorville and Downtown LA about every other weekend, so anywhere in between should be fine. Pick-up in Santa Ana is also available. A chance to buy them back when I get back on my feet would also be appreciated. _________________ My Facebook | My MySpace
