Hmmm... they could be spores. Although, I don't know what they would look like.

could it be balls from the sputter coating? i don't know how they do it, but maybe if she is still a tyro she could mess it up and make balls like that?
hmm, i am just perusing googles of "sem mold spores" and none look that featureless. but then, i am not checking scale or anything so it doesn't completely rule it out
some fungal spore sem shots look a leeetle bit closer

She said its possible it could be from the coating, but this is at a really low magnification (a few thousand x) and the beads were only in one area.
