A few SEM shots.

My girlfriend's taking a scanning electron microscope class for her graduate studies so she took some pics of the regalis eggsac.  This is the inside of it.  Those aren't the eggs, they're something else...

mold or fungus spores that would be too small to see naked eyed?

Hmmm... they could be spores.  Although, I don't know what they would look like.

could it be balls from the sputter coating?  i don't know how they do it, but maybe if she is still a tyro she could mess it up and make balls like that?


hmm, i am just perusing googles of "sem mold spores" and none look that featureless.  but then, i am not checking scale or anything so it doesn't completely rule it out

some fungal spore sem shots look a leeetle bit closer

She said its possible it could be from the coating, but this is at a really low magnification (a few thousand x) and the beads were only in one area.
