B. dubia vs. Lobsters - Housing Together

Question:

Can they be housed together without adverse effects?

I have gotten one general response for most people....
"Yeah, but I'm not sure if the dubia will eat the lobster nymphs or visa versa"

That is my main concern. Do they pose a threat to one another?
Competition for food obviously isn't an issue.

I'd like to hear from anyone who actually KNOWS for a fact.
Most people just guess or assume.

Thanks.

i have them together and they seem to be doing fine

eventually you will have many times the number of lobs as dubs, though
What

Lobsters > B. craniifer and hissers.  Mad

I learned that the hard way... A couple gravid females got into both my colonies and within 2-3 weeks it was all lobsters.

wait.....what do you mean?

I know that lobsters reproduce like minorities.....but do they actually *harm* the other species?

aside from possible out competing, not that i have seen.

granted, i only keep live birthers together. i have a super colony container with roughly 1500 lobs and 300 hissers in it. bulk is nymphs of lobsters. i keep getting new lob and his nymphs, too.

and i probably do not take as good of care as my roaches as most

really, the only species i have that SUCKED with other stuff was Eublaberus posticus. they wiped out my first batch of hisser nymphs ever.

of course, the fact my Ep colony can strip a mousy down to bone in 24h has made up for my earlier crossness at them hehehe

Sorry, I should have been more clear... The lobsters will eat larger/slower roaches. I still have the combined colony of all of them... I think there are a few of the hollowed out B. craniifer...

all roaches will eat dead roaches. i haven't seen any evidence that the lobs actually murderize anyone though. i even have a little bucket with a subset of my roaches that i feed out of that would be very obvious if big guys were getting killed off

one thing you have to remember. an adult hisser is not going to live for *that* much longer... especially if you got it when already adult. and when they die they are just so much meat to the rest of the colony
What

I had both newly molted adults(after hardening) and nymphs of many sizes. I saw the lobsters chewing through the spiracles on the sides of the hissers while they were still moving...

hmm. never seen that. what do you feed yours? i give them cat food pretty regularily. that is pretty high in protein.
What

I feed vegi scraps, dog food, bits of leftover steak, bits of left over hamburger, remains of egg in eggshell, and assorted fruit bits. Oh, and sometimes the remains of cereal boxes(crumbs).
