Bridey's sick

Hey Everyone,

I just wanted to ask for some positive energy to be sent Bridey's way. I had to take her to the vet yesterday. She doesn't have any horrible symptoms but is definitely not her normal happy self. It turns out her liver is quite enlarged. I'm a complete wreck. I'm waiting to get blood work back today.

Part of the reason i got Molly 3 years ago (after a year and a half of planning and waiting on just the right breeding...) Was because I know Bridey won't really be with me forever. I knew I can't be without a dog for a single day. Molly has become a super special dog and will be the most awesome competition dog i've ever had. Even so, Bridey's my world. I'm sure it's'not even "healthy" to love my dog as much as I love her.

I might have to have a *fire sale* to pay for any further treatment as yesterday was already $800 for just the diagnostics. I'll worry about that after I get the details today. I don't care about anything else right now.

So, please please please, send good thoughts and energy Bridey's way and ask your pups to cross their paws for her.

Thanks, Jules

Best wishes Jules. Hoping for the best.

I'm really sorry to hear this!  I hope she pulls through.  Positive energy has been sent Bridey's way.

P-Nut and I will be praying for you and your baby.  I TOTALLY know what you're going through -- my dog is like my child too.  You are doing all you can so just love her and try to take care of yourself too.  I'll be thinking of you!

Me and all my Fur Children are sending our love to you and Bridey!

Please keep us posted on any updates you receive.

I have spent the last 5 years fostering and caring for elderly Dachshunds, so I know exactly what you are going through...  (Fortunately, I have a vet who lets me pay in installments).

Ask your vet about Flagyl -- many of my old dogs are on a low-dose long-term to soothe their livers, firm up their stools, and stimulate their appetites.

Iggy (who passed away on Mother's Day in 2003) was my "soul mate", too...  I had such an extraordinary connection to that dog.  So I know *exactly* how you feel about Bridey.  There's a big dose of healing energy beaming its way toward her!

If I wasn't in serious deep doo-doo financially myself I'd offer to help with the vet expenses...  Ask your vet about Care Credit -- it's a credit company that allows you to pay over time for veterinary care expenses.  (Unfortunately, I'm in such bad shape, they wouldn't approve *me* for my latest round of vet care, but they usually approve almost anyone).

Thanks everyone. No real update yet. Blood work is not conclusive or all back yet. However her Calcium came back really low which may be due to parathyroid hormone deficiency. Went in for a blood draw on that test tonight for another $300!!! That test goes to Michigan and won't be back for a week.

That's it, I'm broke now. I don't know how long it would take but I have two African Grey Parrots I can try to sell in our booming economy. I'm too tired to think about it tonight. I saw on the news tonight that my bank was just sold out. I don't have any money left so I guess it won't really affect me. What a joke.

I have to get up in just 3 1/2 hours already. Molly has an all day training workshop I've been looking forward to for 2 months and now I don't even want to go.

Well, one of the great things about dogs is that even when you just feel like crawling under a rock and dying, they will insist on reminding you that life is all about having *fun*!

I hope you have fun with Molly today, and let your troubles wait until next week.

At least you know we are all in the same boat as you, financially...  :-/

Hey, Jules -- how is Bridey doing?  Any better?

when my staff terrier " cera " got sick the first time at 12.  i could not talk about it. she kept rebounding tho and then i could talk. it was easier when there was something to fight. we could not diagnose it. acted like cancer tho. when i had to put her down at 17 this last year...... again i could not talk about it.

wish the best for her.
