Wanted to post this in the other section but I do not have any photos of them in 'nature'. I have many of these guys, they do very well in captivity from what I can tell.
*** I am making a trip out to GA/FL either next year or the following (am doing my best to do it this year, and am hoping to persuade the college for some credit or funds) I will be meeting up with a friend in FL that collects these sometimes and so I will hopefully come back with lots of hab shots and other stuff. We'll be spending a day or so in the panhandle where these are found on sandy slopes, often covered in moss, along the Apalachicola River.

Good luck & put me on the list. :-)

::lol:: thanks. They are a super neat spider. Back when they weren't fat from food they would eat every time (open door, snatch prey, all in the blink of an eye). Then whenever I would open their door to peak on them they would run down to the bottom and turn around with their abdomenal plate facing upward forming sort of a burrow 'plug'. I guess that is how they avoid intruders in the wild. Quite fascinating.
My ultimate goal is to breed them at the moment so we'll see how my luck unfolds. I think in the wild the males mature in late summer/fall and so hopefully at least one of my subs will mature pretty soon.

Very important post for me ...kind of a wrap up to a few significant recent moments in me life. Recently "explored" (jogging pace.. general super thoughtful, but way..WAY too quicky lookover) "the" Apalachicola River.(ha right! its a river  )_ LOVE to see pics of collection/immediate environment ...
oh...and ..but dont post specifics ...gps locations, under such and such bridge, near this n'that place..blah, blah, etc, etc ...
cacoseraph
you can always post specifics in the Locale Color section (if you want access you have to post detailed location info about one site, then get to see all the other sites ppl have posted)
plus, i have lots of coords by scientists... it is not a big deal. i think all the other sites are a bit insane when it comes to Safe Guarding Locations With Your Life kind of stuff
it cracks me up when posting coords is against their policy but letting bugs you have fed go is cheered on =P

I usually keep locations to myself anyway. If anybody wants to know them they would have to catch me in a good mood. If you see my post regarding Aptostichus atomarius in situ you will notice I did not give any locations-no gps coordinates, not even beach names.
I've also noticed they are not always very helpful. Sure they can put you in the correct general area, but I think too many people collect stuff and forget to mark where they were, only to guess and to put down coordinates in the middle of a road, in the middle of a body of water, etc. At least that was the case when I did some research before going out for some Aptos.
The Cyclocosmia habitat in FL I will hopefully get to check out is actually on private property too, and with the owner's permission of course. This is all not going to happen for a while though, probably sometime between spring and summer of next year, or possibly fall. I'll document all I can but when the time comes I will only post what I feel is necessary.

Oh and I might add that hopefully by then I will have some CB babies available for all who are interested anyway
