Cyriocosmus elegans

I obtained a pair of these beauties and I plan on breeding eventually.
I've been searching the net and very little information up-front, but if you look for it is is there.

One thing I noticed on the boards is that ppl quite often said they wouldn't have known the sex until they molted mature.

C. elegans shows adult coloration fairly early, and though it may not be the best way to go, I have noticed that every single pic of a male looks like tis:

And a female like this:

Notice the latitudinal bands that run on the male's legs along with the dark (black) underside of the legs vs the female's light leg coloration?

I just think this may be an easier (though I don't know how effective) way of sexing Smile

Oh wow, did you get these from James Tuttle? He a female for $100 at the meeting on the 25th.

They are beautiful in their own way:

Very beautiful species.

As far as breeding goes it seems to be pretty straight forward. I need to acclimate my female first though, and I'd like to find out her story first as well Wink.

Confirmed MM.... YAY!!!

I was checking these pair out as it happened to be feeding time (they are gluttons Smile )

Anyhow, I happened to take a look at the presumed male (base on leg pattern identification), remember :

Well, I was able to notice the classic MM emboli Smile

I did check the other specimen which didn't have "boxing gloves".

I'm also going based on leg pattern, which once again I'm not sure is the most effective method, but at least with this species I'm yet to encounter pictures that prove otherwise.

Let's hope I do in fact have a breeding pair Wink

Lets hope! I have my fingers crossed for you =D

How big is your MM ?

We are talking about 1" leg to leg.

I just found my camera so I'll be taking pictures and posting soon.

Sad sorry to hear that. I may have jumped the gun Rolling Eyes on the leg pattern issue, (that's what happens when I get excited over a T), as it seems immature males and females are very alike.

I'm just hoping it's a female, ok everybody together now, cross your fingers Wink

Best pic I could get, this is the male.

This is a second picture of the male, this picture was taken through the plastic lid, that is why it's a little blurry, but you can see his palp a bit.
