Does my laundry room count as "in situ"?This little guy/gal decided to wander in:
(Probably thought s/he could mooch some of my feeder crickets' food).
S/he is only about 3/4" long, so still just a teeny baby. I've found these up to ~3 inches in size.
(I told you I have a ton of these in my yard).
For those of you not familiar with 'em, it's a baby Jerusalem Cricket (genus Stenopelmatus, not sure what the species name is).

Have you ever tried to keep them in captivity?

Hello All,
MOst of the Potato bugs when small are really adaptive to captive rearing, when they are bigger they usually die faster.

No -- I've never had much interest in keeping them. I have way too many critters as it is. (And why bother anyway, when they seem to be doing so well in the yard?)
