Dubia for Beardies

Hey Warren,

Do you feed dubia to your Beardies? I am helping a friend of mine start a dubia colony for her two large males. I just have my one little guy who still lives on paper towels. I'm holding off on the sand until he gets big enough that he isn't at as much risk for sand impaction.

Anyway, do you have any guidelines I can give her regarding approximately how many of what size to feed them? Also, I would imagine that the dubia would burrow pretty quickly in sand. I actually put mine in a shallow ceramic dog dish. I just make sure I pick out the right size that can't scale over it too quickly. How do you feed dubia to your dragons?

Estelle is my friend from an agility club I belong to. We're both on the board together and knows I keep the spidey's. I can't remember how or when the subject of roaches came up. At first she was more than grossed out. However, it's been about a year and she couldn't be more excited to start her colony!! A true convert! It was pretty funny becuause we just had our Christmas Party Potluck last weekend. Estelle and I sat next to each other so we could talk dubia. I also told her about my new Hissers. A couple people could over hear us and were dying to know exactly what we were talking about since we never actually used the word "roach." Great lunch conversation!!

I do feed them dubia and a veried mix of fruits and veggies 1 of them also will consum pinkies when I have extras.(not yours Wilhelm). Mine are in 4' Kritter kondos without any substrate and i'll start throwing them in one at a time until they seem to be full. I'll do this usually every 3-4 days.

Lemme no if you need more info..

Do you still have alot of Dubias? if so I'll trade you some Z.fuscus scorps for some. my colony has started to shrink.

Thanks for the info! I'll pass it on to Estelle.

I am sending you a pm about the dubia. Wink
