Please, come join us for the El Dorado Nature Center Annual Butterfly Count held in conjunction with the Annual North American Butterfly Association (NABA) Butterfly Count. You can help us gather important data about which species are flying here and making the Nature Center their home.
Beginners are welcome! As a participant, you will join a naturalist in identifying butterflies and their larvae in different habitats in the Nature Center, on and off trail, in the native plant restoration area and also, at adjacent surrounding sites.
You may opt to join us for just the morning or afternoon segment, or make a day of it! Bring a sack lunch to join us for a noon break. Do not forget to wear a hat, bring plenty of water and wear sunscreen.
The itinerary is as follows:
Saturday, June 27, 2009
9:45 am Introductions, registration and collect $3.00 cash NABA fee
10:00am Depart from the amphitheater to begin the count
12:00 pm Break for lunch
12:30 pm Welcome newcomers and collect $3.00 cash NABA fee
Resume count
3:00 pm Count concludes
Data gathered will be compiled and submitted to NABA on official forms which we will share with you as well.
