They are quite the lookers, and it seems like bites are unlikely (not to be confused impossible, simply unlikely)
Arboreal, pretty, small (relatively), venomous, docile and just AWESOME over all.

Never kept one, but they sound rear fanged a species. Which would mean they should be considered a colubrid.

If you end up getting one let me know, I might want one too.

don't know yet... wanting, but really low on funds for now... lots of expenses coming uo (and I do have some $$$ separated for the GBB's )
Sort of like that false water cobra we saw in Lodi... and how we handled the babies, under the impression they were not venomous (at least I was under that impression)... when in reality they are venomous, just rear fanged...
These are awesome though... like I said I don;t know, plus, until the bug room becomes a reality I have to keep the welfare of my son in mind.

No, but I used to have one of these:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oxybelis_fulgidus
It was very tame, although a bit timid, and never even tried to bite. I used to handle it a lot -- I even took it to reptile shows in schools, but didn't let the kids handle it of course. It would also musk on me sometimes -- stinky, slightly grassy smell. It would only eat lizards when I first got it, but by rubbing a frozen lizard I kept in the freezer on pinkie mice and rats I eventually got it to eat [thawed frozen] pinkies.
The asian snakes tend to be a lot more nippy, although every snake is an individual, of course...

That is true, but as long as you house them in a proper set up, and child proof the cage you won't have to worry about the snake getting out, or your son getting in it.
If I do get on of these, I want to set up a nice huge 50-60 gallon arboreal enclosure in the living room for display. I want to make it really nice.
So if you do end up getting one, let me know and we might be able to get a discount on a pair together =]

Sure thing Nick
BTW, the rat snake is doing great
I will be on the lookout for a yellow one when mating season comes around... in some years

not Boiga...
but I ask... why do the venomous species have to be so darn pretty... it's like dangling candy in front of kids and telling them not to touch it.
Darn you gods of the natural wonders, darn you *shakes fists at the skies*
