YAYYYY!!!! Congratulations, Francisco!!!
Did you breed these, or buy the female already pregnant?
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!

HEllo All,
Well she ate the egg sack, my guess they were not fertile.
Oh well, I was looking forward to some little vinis.

Darn it! Three sacs between us, and nothing to show for it so far... :-(

at least all three of you produced sacs... that is a step in the right direction.
I on the other hand not only did not get her to produce a sac, but also ended up killing the male in an unfortunate and not directly mating-related incident.

The only reason mine and ogershok's produced sacs was because they were wild-caught and already gravid when we got them...
Did you breed yours, Francisco?
Oscar: could you female already be gravid?

Hello All,
Celeste my mefale was also WC she was adquire at the Pomona reptile show.
My gues those eggs were not fertile, but the funny thing is that she was really agressive towards the male so I asume she was not ready, but she was actually getting ready to egg production.
Oh well next time will be.

Celeste, I introduced the male to my female's enclosure and se cased him around a bit, they then locked in to each other with their palps and kept on touching each other throughout the night. I read somewhere the courtship can last up to 13 straight hours. I was fairly tired and ended up falling asleep. I did not witness the male depositing his spermatophore.
I haven't noticed any change in behavior, and if anything, she is thinner now than before.
We'll just have to keep on trying.

Mine were doing some very bizarre stuff, too -- I'll write a more graphic description later (when I'm not posting from the office...)

I have a write up of somebody who witnessed and documented the whole mating ritual.
I'll try to dig it up and post it around here.

Quickly, because I have to get to work:
What I observed was the male grabbed both of the females "feelers" in his "claws" (I don't know the scientific names of these body parts, and don't have time to look them up right now) so he was "controlling" her, and put the tips of her "feelers" into his mouth like he was chewing on them or something. He did this for a long time. The female wasn't struggling or anything, so I figured it was O.K.
The next morning, I found the female was behind the male and had the male's abdomen gripped firmly in her claws, and looked like she was eating him from the underside of his abdomen. That had me a little worried, so I managed to separate them. but he appeared no worse for the wear, so I assume that is NOT what was happening...
Most bizarre! I'll try introducing them again sometime when I can supervise them for longer.

Celeste that is EXACTLY the same thing I witnessed, down to the whole "eating" him from behind "the underside" more specifically (this is all the morning after). That actually got me panicking so I separated them as well.
wow, I wonder if mating with them is pretty straight forward. It seems the steps are the same, it may just have to do with the right conditions as far as actually getting fertile sacs out of the females.
My female is still here and always ready, so I'll be purchasing a male when I get the chance.
