Fresh water fishermen ...when u buy bait...Do you find "undesirable" fish specie(s) amongst your minnows? ...Such as sticklebacks (which we used to have in our minnows back in MN).

Well unless something changed in the last few years or so, the only live bait you can use for fresh waters in Cali are worms and meal worms..IIRC

I've come across sticklebacks mixed in with feeder goldfish back when I worked in a exotic fish wholesaler during high school. There would be some bluegill in there all the time and baby bass also.
Strays are always fun! My fishing buddy is a seafood wholesaler and gets neat stuff with his crawfish. He gets snapping turtles, frogs and water snakes (Nerodia sp.) mixed in with the crawfish in the burlap sack they come in!

Was thinking thats probably the case. Too many fragile and separated water ways and lakes out here in CA.
Want to start some fish keepin' again ...its been a while. On a search for sticklebacks and hopefully some other swimmers.

You can make a hellova pond in your backyard. Some Koi and some Hi-Fin sharks would be awesome....
