Goodbye Zamis
My beautiful Zamis, the cockatiel, lost her year-long battle with an ovarian tumor yesterday. She went peacefully in her sleep and now she'll never hurt again. But it sucks so bad. The house is so quiet.
(This photo was taken at her previous owner's. I wouldn't keep my animals on walnut shell).

Oh, I am so sorry! She was a cutie pie...
You know, the local shelters and/or humane societies often have Cockatiels available for adoption... (when you get tired of the quiet)...

Its SO tough trying to fight illnesses in small animals ...and expensive.. yet we try. Some of us are crazy I guess.

Interesting.

It's a good kind of crazy. I'm still wearing the broken nose-ring that she destroyed to remind me of her. If that's not crazy, I don't know what is.

I just saw this Christy. I'm so sorry. I love cockatiels (I have 5). Many years ago I lost my first and only (at the time) tiel. She was probably about 14 years old. Anyway, my Timneh African Grey parrot continued to mimic Tootsie's whistles, calls and soft voice. I got tired of having to listen to a tiel when there wasn't really one in the house and so I finally got another. Teil's are great family birds.

Thanks Jules. I really do miss her little sounds. I just found some of her molted feathers today that my son was saving and got all sad all over again. I don't think I'm ready for another bird, yet though.
