Help with kids school projectHey guys,My son is in 4th grade and has been assigned a California Endangered Species report. His animal is the Valley Elderberry Longhorn beetle, Desmocerus californicus dimorphus. Just wondering if anyone had any info on them or (even better) some photos of them in the wild that you could share? Thanks for your help! |

Heehee! Thanks, Andrew. I think I'll pass on that last picture, however. We haven't had THAT talk yet!
Yeah, I try to have him be accurate and thorough for his own sake. He probably already knows more about animals than his teacher. Most of the parents did not realize that beetles were even animals. Even my 6-year-old has had to correct his teacher and explain to her that a turtle is a reptile and not an amphibian. On the downside, they don't know jack about math because Mommy thinks that's boring! |
