House geckosWell rosenkrieger had told me at the BBQ that he was trying to breed his house geckos, but he the pet shop he bought them at only ever carried females. So I told him I would check out a couple pet shops for him. I did find him a male, but I decided I wanted to try a breed for myself as well. Don't worry man i'll have a male for you at the next BBQ.
Here's some pictures!
The male
The female
Close up of the female (Would'v taken one of the male, but he is incredibly fast and very un-willing

Awww!! They're just adorable!
Are those the kind that you find all over the place in Hawaii?
Good luck with breeding them!

How do you sex these?
\I've randomly let some of these go in my house to take care of any crix/roaches that might have escaped....

Warren, sexing them is really similar to leopard geckos.
Herpetologyfrk, you're going to need a massively arboreal setup for them to feel secure enough to breed. They also lay their eggs on the back of cork bark and such. Here's a picture of how I've got mine set up.

Thanks for the info. I'll set up a ten gallon up-right today. What temps will the breed best at? I'm thinking about going to pet-co later or something to get another female. How many females are you going to keep to a male?
When I went in they gave me a 20-25g reptile cage for free, and sold me a female sand boa for $20. She is a couple years old, not mature yet.

Generally, its one male to 2-3 females. They'll breed at the low 80's. Only keep one male to a cage, though.

My female shed, do they shed two weeks prior before laying like snakes do? I hope so
They were kept in the same cage prior to me buying them so they might have already bred.

I'm not sure about the shedding as I have yet to actually breed mine. Chances are they have bred if kept in a mixed sex cage at the pet store. I'll talk to a friend of mine that has bred them and PM you the instructions for incubating them.

Thanks man I appreciate the help. I've bred snakes, but never lizards. These will be my first

No problem. the only thing I've bred so far are fish and roaches. ::lol:: These will be my first reptiles, too. One thing I just remembered, is don't house the babies with the parents, this species is cannabilistic

Oh yeah, don't worry. i'll be removing the eggs for incubation anyways. I never introduce the off spring to the adults.
