huntsman

i think the more i find myself around chris, the more im intrigued at not only his knowledge but honesty...he has a bunch of new huntsman available(black ones in particular) some with no real ID and i must admit, i think i see a new direction in my overall collection..true spiders...

of coarse there isn't alot of info out there..so, i thought a new thread would not only spark some interest but be a great ref point to overall huntsman husbandry...

also being, as some scabies have some great looking spiders to begin with***David**cough, cough ::lol::...soo, if you got pics and info on how you keep yours..newbies like me will have something to go on...i also belive Andrew had a few??? and Anette.....sooo, how are they doing and what works for you.....

Hello ALl,
Wayne,
I also have a few from Chris.
I keep them in Tall containers(pretzel jars from Costco or Puff wide mouth plastics container from Sams club)
I also have some in 1 gallon plastic jar from the 99 c store.

Height is more important than ground space, since they molt hanging from the bark or plants.

So a piece of bark long enought to fit the jar and some artificial vegetation or real if you like.

Peat moss as substrate so you can keep it real humid and middle 70s in temp

The black ones are the ones I don't have let us know how much he is asking for them.

i don't think i've ever really heard that they are supposed to be that aggressive. i have seen plenty of pics of ppl playing with them

they are medium to medium-small size hunstman. i don't think they can quite get to 4" LS

can be found in FL, thus common name FL Huntsman

I have a Bat Huntsman from Chris & it's great.  It's in a 4x4x7" acrylic cube you can get at Michael's w/a cork bark & some fake plants.  I think I need to put in bigger fake leaves however to ensure it has additional places to hide (not just behind the cork bark).  I also have a waterdish & keep the substrate moist to assist humidity.  Chris said that additional misting would probably be beneficial as well.

This one is so laid back that I can put the feeder right up to its mouth & it'll grab it from the tweezers.  I'm just afraid that it'll get too lazy w/me doing that.   Very Happy

Hello All,
Paul, perhaps it needs a bigger container where she can acctually move around more so she could be active at night time????

She's not too big yet but I was thinking of giving her something larger once I put her in the cube.  Thanks Francisco.

Does anybody know if there is any species that are communal?
sick4x4

i think the Florida species have been kept communally....sadly you'd have to ask todd G. since i think it was him keeping smaller in-stars together so who knows...

Hello all,
I have heard of H venatoria being kept communal, but I would not try it.
without being sure.
