Someone brought up a cat issue and one of the reasons I dislike them.(I dont want to argue that point at all, for whatever your reason is).
I miss the Spotted Dove in So. Cali. They were a treat to watch and hear and I havent seen one around in years, many years. Im not blaming cats in particular, nor hawks, dogs, high school students with BB guns, Blood & Crips, or whatever. And even though the dove is a "foreign species", I still miss it. Maybe someday when I retire I can work with them.
On the other hand, it's good to see the Banded-tailed pigeon flourishing.

absolutely stunning...
there's nothing like the sound of the voice of a dove
and that's coming from the woman that relaxes to the ambience of truck engines!
I've kept a diamond dove once (pet store reject) and it was oddly calming to have around.

I have actually spotted these gorgeous Doves in Trabuco Canyon which is on the southern side of the Santa Ana mountains.
