IOI - PTB - Guide (SoI, Threads of Interest, Etc)IOI - PTB - Guide (SoI, Threads of Interest, Etc)
There are quite a number of familes of Heteroptera that have some or all of their members species predacious. SCABIES is mainly concerned with the larger and/or more interesting looking and behaving species. The familes that SCABIES is investigating are (arranged alphabetically) (familes of species interest are underlined):
Anthocoridae - Shield bugs- Relatively few are predacious(?)
Berytidae - Stilt bugs- Smaller, LONG legged predators.
Belostomatidae - Giant water bugs - Large water living bugs. ~Amphibious. So far, VERY difficult to raise, impossible to culture!
Gelastocoridae - Toad bugs - Smaller, water oriented bugs that look like, well, toads.
Lygaeidae - Seed bugs - realtively few are predacious
Miridae - Plant bugs- Likely very few are predacious
Nabidae - Damsel bugs-
Nepidae - Waterscorpions -
Pentatomidae - Stink bugs - relatively few are predacious and possibly all are plant feeders at lowest instars
Phymatidae - Ambush bugs- Interesting "chunky" shape and awesome predatorial power!
Reduviidae - Assassin bugs- "Classic" assassins. Most hobby bugs belong to this family
