Lychas Infuscatus.... BABIES!!!While inspecting all of my scorpions due to the issue discussed on the Tarantula forum, I made a suprise discovery.... One Lychas Infuscatus has babies. Strangely enough I never suspected this one of being gravid. I figured it was a bit overweight, but it was kept communaly before comming into my care. So now I believe a few other may also be gravid.
Unfortunately since I did not believe it to be gravid I had left prey in there and as such I think that the mother may have eaten several babies as only 8 were counted on her back. Luckily she has been kept individually since I've had her. I believe it has been between 2-5 days since she gave birth so I will leave her alone for another few days and see if the babies have progressed to 2i.

Yes, Lychas is a really cool genus. Though i think they all are pretty cool. My favorite are Hadrurus (specifically H. Spadix), but after that I think they all are my second favorite!

We are not sure what we are doing yet. Some of these are Franciscos. We actually got his by mistake along with our scorps.
If they survive, do you want to split 50/50 Frisco?
I might keep one for myself! They are so cute!

Sorry, I was just told that this scorpion technically belongs to Francisco-So the babies are his.  So you can talk to Frisco about buying them.
There was some mix up at the BBQ and we ended up with some of Franciscos scorpions. Sean can explain it better.
We will keep you updated as to how the babies are doing. We suspect we will be seperating them soon if mean mommy has not taken their lives.

Update. As of this morning all babies at now 2nd instar, although I only counted 7 (kinda hard to see them all). They were still on the mothers back.

Sean I will def do a 50 50 with you and yes some will be for sale, once they are off the moms back.
I also got another nice B day present like this one and my skinks.
I found another one of my B gigas with babies and I think 2-3 more look gravid.
Nice B days presents for me.

Ok so as of last night the babies are off the moms back, though the count seems to have fallen down to 7. I rehoused the 7 babies, and each one of them killed and ate a pinhead cricket.
Some more of the adults look gravid as well, so quite possibly more to come.
