Yeah. I noticed the antennae. If it was female I might have kept her for myself ::lol::. I will look on Tuesday when I go back to work, but most of the temporary lighting will be gone by then I'm afraid. If I had noticed these giant moths sooner I would have been a bit more interested in the swarms around the lighting. I thought all that was out there were sphinx moths. I will keep my eyes out for any more though and tell you if I find any females.
....It was like a massacre around the lights during the day. As the moths landed just about any-middle-of-the-road-anywhere during the day, the roads were covered with goo and wings when the construction vehicles and workers started to roll through

sweet! someone here knows their silk moths! in a few months here in AZ, there will be around a dozen giant silk moth species in flight. the one people seem to be most after is rothschildia.

Cecropia moths are bigger. I had the pleasure of saving a male Polyphemus moth from drowning in the pool. Cecropia moths are the largest N. American moth. Don't know which comes second though.
But that's a beautiful specimen you've found.

Perfect feeder for a big pede or T!

Why damn it whyyyyyyyyyy! They deserve to live! If you're going to feed anything to a centipede or a T let it be a lizard or something.
Leave the moths alone.......or they'll come for you......I've seen it happen.

lizards don't deserve to live?

Oh no they deserve to live it's just I can't stand seeing something as pretty as a polyphemus moth being eaten alive by a T or a centipede. If you must feed one to either of the 2 let it already have lived it's life......
.....same goes for the lizards. Sorry if you got the meaning of what I said wrong.
