Olios fasciculatus - Golden Huntsman Spider

Anyone have any experience keeping these? I caught one, it got out in my room, and I later found the damn thing fat and happy hanging out in my dubia colony. And I would like to keep it as a pet. What kind of housing would I use, humidity, etc?

i read that at least one species of Olios has it's feet turn black when it is kept too moist. hmm, brain is telling me it might have been some other huntsmen

but when i had a couple Olios giganteus (i think) they seemed to kind of darken up when i increased the moisture

i would say set them up similar to a drier arboreal tarantula and give them a little water dish and see what they act like

oh, and from my experience... don't give them a container where they build their little house sac right in the freaking neck and attached to the lid... cuz they sometimes produce their eggsacs inside their house sacs and apparently don't like you to open their house sacs up when they have egg sacs :/

Although, based on what you told me, not too much different from my dubia colony after all. I keep them bare bottom cage and provide moisture with veggies and fruit.

I think you might be thinking of a different species with the foot turning black thing. These guys have black toes already. :p

Is it possible those huntsman spiders would rip off their second front legs??

If i got that right, both Andrew and Rosen have the same species of hunstman and they're both missing the same legs. If i'm not mistaken, a hunstman's second pair of front legs are the longest legs right?

So i'm guessing maybe it impairs movement in a way witch would make them wanna remove them .

I'm only asking cuz i've heard of another species of spiders who remove a certain body part for that same reason. Once removed , the spider can run faster . So i was just curious :-)

I think mine is actually missing a front and a back leg. I'll double check when I get home.
