Orange County Tarantulas

I went on a hike today in an area of Orange County known to have tarantulas.  I finally got to see my first tarantula burrow!  Once you see one for your first time, trust me, you'll start seeing dozens of them!  Now that I have a little bit of experience finding them, I'm sure I'll have an easier time finding them in San Diego. (I needed a little help to get me started.  Thanks Kevin!)  I didn't collect any since I figured if I ever wanted to see one, I know where to look.  Anyway, enough chatter; on to the pics!

Tarantula burrow just off the trail:

Aphonopelma sp. "eutylenum type"

Wow that's cool!  I've hiked a few times in OC but have never seen a burrow.  I'll have to look more carefully next time Smile

Hey Kyle,
How far north from you (approx) or south from LA are we talking about?
noexcuse4you

Sorry guys.  I've been sworn to keep this locality secret.  Unless if Kevin decides to give it up, I'm not saying anything.
balam

I don't need a specific location. More of an approximate distance north of San Diego or south of LA, give or take some miles. (want to find out what other bugs are going to be active while we are there) Smile (though I understand if you can's disclose tat info either) Sad
TheJackal
