fili's are cribellate and the plec's are not

edit:

i think i saw a MM of these in mariposa. out of the range but looked similar. the mm has hooks but they looked weird.  great... i can't remember why they looked weird.

At first glance, this looks like one I got at Whitewater during the Salton Sea trip. Havent looked into it but I'll take a few pics during lunch and compare. Sure matches the habitat, and web structure,....but size?
What

If you were collecting at Whitewater you have more guts than I!

I have seen a few pictures of these and they do look very cool, one of my photography goals for this summer.

the second sac looks ok and is going to hatch any day soon... but while i was gone (of course) apparently there was a heat wave and 95% of the slings from the first one died.
Celeste

I am so sorry to hear about the slings!  Yes, it was wicked hot here this past weekend (up to about 103 F at my house).
Steven

Yep..I have a bunch of broods that Im afraid to look at after the last week of heat.  Im sure the numbers have been greatly reduced.
