S. heros mycosis

Alright, I was just getting my pede ready for the show tomorrow when I noticed its starting to develope (I believe) mycosis!  What should I do about it and will it go away when it molts?

cacoseraph

i'll tell you what i think if i can try to hold it

actually, i guess i'll tell you anyways

though i have in the past called that mycosis it might not be.  i have read other theories that make sense, though i haven't looked into them that much.  the standard approach has been to keep bug drier... but that doesn't always help

so basically,  i don't know and i don't know that the hobby knows for sure

but, i can recall similar looking conditions both going away and getting worse after molts

Thanks, Andrew.  I baked its substrate until it was completely dry.  Hopefully it'll get better when it molts!

PS.  You can hold it at the bug show Wink

Sorry to hear about your loss.

That does suk!!
Did you take it to the show?
noexcuse4you

No, I thought it would be better if it stayed at home, but I guess not...
Celeste

It's *so* hard to get the humidity/moisture just right sometimes...  I lost a lot of baby mantises last year because of that.
cacoseraph

damn that sucks man!

HEllo Kyle,
I honestly don't thing it was the mycosis, it doesn't look too bad, must have been other factors in the centi to end its life.

It looks like it was a young centi, and it doesn't look to bad over all.

Did the fangs also had the balck spots???

Yeah, the fangs had black spots too.  It was eating just fine and then it stopped, probably because of its fangs.  A real bummer, but what can you do.

Hi Kyle,
do you have anymore S. heros (any morph)? anything 5-6" up?  I have 2 castaneiceps.  one of them i am suspecting female.  The other one i am not sure yet.  my female just molted today, so i am going to introduce them to see if they're a pair.

anyway, if you have any, we can try to breed them.

thanks
