A good time to meet up w/ some of the Sun Diego folks.....

DavidRS

Of course, Crazy Dave will be there hal  puke
Celeste

I'm thinking of going, but not as an exhibitor.  I need to hook-up with more Corucia breeders, and I know of a couple who might be there.

noexcuse4you

You can be sure I'll be there!  Celeste, if you'd like you're MM regalis back then, I'm sure he'll be ready to come home!

Vbrooke

Hi everyone! I really hope you  make it down here to San Diego for the show! I'm so excited to meet other buggers out there.

Vicki
Celeste

Speaking of which...  Given the ridiculous price of gas these days, anyone interested in possibly carpooling down there?

I can only go for a few hours, and have to drive down, spend a few hours, then turn around and come right back.

If anyone else is interested in that kind of ridiculous schedule, let me know.

Vicki:  I'll let you know if I make it down there.  Jules is in San Diego, isn't she?  You two should get together sometime.  Us crazy bug-loving chicks have to stick together!  ;-)

Vbrooke

Still new, don't know many San Diegans in to bugs, except for Jen  650. I can't wait for the show!!!

Vicki
Pulk

i'll probably go

Probably a good 1/3 of our active members are in the San Diego area, I'd estimate.
Celeste

Yeah -- I just got my male Poecilotheria regalis back from noexcuse4you (Kyle) who is in San Diego as well.  You folks might want to have a little local San Diego get together sometime like we do occasionally up here.  A bunch of us in the Glendale vicinity get together on occasion at a local eatery (location varies).

(Sorry for diverging from topic -- I'm easily distracted, especially when this sleep-deprived!)

It's just that you make it seem like there's more of you. violent1

We will be staying at a motel in National City for the duration of the show. Let me know if anyone wants to swing by for a cordial and a cannoli.
noexcuse4you

Too bad no one represents San Diego on this forum... I wish I had time to start that "San Diego Chapter" I wanted to.
Johnny

Celeste, since you dont have access to The Retreat, then here is that post. (Will one of the admins give her access to The Retreat please)

You were wondering if he had done the deed and I promised you a picture so here you go. I say that judging by his wide grin and wink that he did indeed score,,,,what do you think?

~Abyss~

how does she not have access? She's a mod?
Celeste

I requested (and got) access (to the Retreat, but not the Naughty Burrow!) after Johnny's post.

Johnny

Yeah good choice for avoiding the Naughty Burrow (***Cochinos !!). I dont go there cuz I dont want them tinting my purity. I dont even watch those tribal documentaries cuz I dont like to see the women with their  saggy \./\./ just out there in the open. Dios mio.

cacoseraph

not sure if i am going to be able to go
freaking busy as heck this month
ogershok

I live in Oceanside and I'll be happy to help with gas and even buy lunch for the driver if anyone will pick me up. I've got a car but I have a pathological aversion to driving in downtown San Diego.
~Abyss~

Well turns out...I'm broke. ::lol:: I might still go if I get paid soon. But your on my way so I'll let you know as soon as I get paid and I wouldn't mind picking you up. You just have to deal with a newly converted standard driver.

WBurke17

I'm not able to go to this one.
Johnny

Senor Warren, but youre the one that posted this and got us all anxious, wet and bothered.

I have an idea,,,,, sneak out! (shhh)....I'll pick you up at Huntington and Buena Vista.
WBurke17

I wish i could, My grandmother just passed away, and my family went on a road trip to Kansas And Nebraska along with 8 other states along the way in 7days and 3500 miles later, and w/ the price of gas lets just say i'm counting change till my next paycheck. And im really not in the mood for any car ride over 15 minutes for a long while...
W
Ronin

Johnny - what's your schedule like?  Maybe I can hitch a ride with you.  Will share w/gas of course.
Johnny

Im thinking Saturday? Getting there at opening time and probably leave around 3 or 4 'ish? I sent a PM to Celeste and I guess Emo will go with us too?
Ronin

Sounds good.  I'll PM you for details.  Thanks Johnny.
Emo Cinderella Boi

I'm definitely going  Twisted Evil  i can't wait to get some tortoise there and trade some tarantulas mwahahaha
stevecooper

I am going.  But sometime later in the afternoon.  I am currently on duty and won't get off until 3:30.  Steve
Johnny

OK Ronin, Emo....we're all set. (Im even taking a shower tomorrow and combing my hair).
cacoseraph

i combed my hair once. i didn't like it.

have fun going to the show, folks
Pulk

does anyone want kuks, d. crocatas, silvestrii-like unID'd local scorps, a baffling tiny local scorp, spinigerus-like unID'd arizona scorps, or adult fem geos?

edit: or B. californicum slings (only for some trade, these are my last 2)
Johnny

Caco, find anything interesting under that hair?
Pulk

reposting this so it's on the last page, not much time till the show

Ride to show?

Hey Johnny - Eddy just let me know that he probably won't be able to drive tomorrow. Do you have any room left for another rider? To save time - gimme a call if you want to:

I went to the reptile show today, and boy was it packed.  I ended up getting a couple of slings.  Nhadu Chrom , H. Lividum, and Free A. Henzti.  There is a booth that offers free oklahoma brown slings with every purchase.   Steve
Johnny

Oh man what a blast. We went on a quick hunt afterwards, Ronin, Emo and I. Got this awsome wolf spider from Oklahoma and it appears to be a Rabidosa Rabida but much bigger. The jokes, oh lord the jokes.... he he.

Dave, nice setup youve got going over there. Most excellent day.
ogershok

Yep, it was a good time allright. Already looking forward to the next one. But the next time I'll have more beer.
noexcuse4you

I hate that place, wayyyy too many people!  I feel like I'm just floating down a river cause I can't move around.  Anyway, I picked up some new species and a bunch of KK's for cheap.  I might be going back there for some other little things I forgot.  Luckily my hand stamp didn't wash off.  Here's my newest pride and joy, Iridopelma hirsutum

noexcuse4you

You know what makes me mad?  Those KK's that LLLReptile have say they're stackable, but they're not unless you take the handle off and cut off the tabs that the handle ends go in rendering the KK handleless! I didn't realize it until I got home.  GRRRRRR....sorry just had to vent for a second.
Celeste

Kyle,

you could probably *make* them stackable by gluing something (like a lego brick) at each of the four corners of either the top or the bottom...  (Just an idea).

-- C
cacoseraph

Kyle

i normally remove the handles from KK anyways.   they are not fabricated with total quality and so eeeevery once in a while a handle can pop off of a cage and make the cage drop and spill
Ronin

The Reptile Show was cool.  As always good to see Crazy Dave & his daughter, Krazy 8s, & Ken the Bug Guy.

The real memorable parts though were the ride w/Johnny, Emo, & ogershok, hanging out at ogershok's burrow, & the quick H&H we did back at Johnny's territory.  I can't even get the jokes straight in my head there were so many...unreal.

Thanks again Johnny for the ride/H&H bugs & ogershok for the hospitality.  Gotta do it again someday.

I'm a little more careful about that after it happened with an obt. it didn't escape, but still...
