Recently at the Bug fair, Douglass (Doug) Copeland of BugFotos talked to me about a spider that he found once but seems to have moved to a different area. Here is what he said.
"Some particulars of the Argiope argentata known by common name of Silver Garden Spider are that they make an orb web with an X-shaped stabilimentum near the hub of the web.
The color of their abdomen is silvery on the front half and mostly yellow out lined with light brown on the back half with 2 pair of humps. The light brown is stronger on the back half of the abdomen in the picture. The abdomen of the female is 1/2 to 5/8 inches and male is 1/8 inch. The egg sac is yellowish and flattened with points along the edges."
I don't know the specifics of what he wants S.C.A.B.I.E.S. to do with this spider identification so I'll just let him on the boards to say himself.
Once problem is that he can't seem to log onto the boards. If any of the mods or admins could help him out that would be wonderful. He is registered. I could PM any of the mods or admins his email and you can do your magic there.
Thanks
