ftorres

BugMom

Oh migosh, my kids would love that!  We go there alot, we have a membership.  Our goal is to have at home everything they have in the "bug zoo".  We're actually not too far off . . .
noexcuse4you

I want to go!!!!
Celeste

My son and I have a family membership, *and* I know someone who works in the Children's Discovery Center (but she might be out on maternity leave right now).  :-)

When is a good day for everyone to get together?  And when do you think you could get us behind the scenes, Francisco?

Hello All,
As soon as we get a date and a group together, I can ask Brent to take sometime to show us around.

Celeste you will love the Czz terrarium, I want one like that.

Ronin

I'd love to go as a group.  I am free any weekend after Oct. 4 & 5.
Rakie

Yeah, it might be a lot of fun.

My cousin might like going to that as well.
ogershok

I'd be up for that.

Oh, I've seen it -- I helped one of the animal curators, Leslie, introduce the pair that is in there, and she thinks the female is pregnant now.  :-)

Hey so who has gone? I cant believe I havent made it out there yet but this weekend will not pass without me there.

***I have a question. Do you think the museum would press charges if I got caught shoplifting in the pavilion?
ftorres

Hello All,
SO, have we decided on a date to visit the Spider Pavillion???

please show hands and suggest a date.

Hmm... Any weekend is good for me.  I'm pretty much available any Saturday.
AGTrauger

I'd like to go also.  I'm free either day this weekend but would prefer Sat.  Could probably make it the following Sat as well if that's better.
Celeste

Well, we can't do it the 18/19 because that's the Cal Poly Pomona show.  So how about Sunday October 12th?

Anyone interested in going this Saturday the 4th?

                                               Eric
Celeste

Yeah -- there's no reason people can't go more than once!  :-)
(I can't make it this Saturday, though...)

Hey Celeste,

Apparently you and I keep similar hours! INSANE!! Shocked
BugMom

We could probably go next weekend, but this weekend is the Off Road Expo -- gotta make the husband happy too!
Celeste

Yeah -- happy spouses/partners let you buy all the bugs you want!  ;->
ogershok

This Saturday (the 4th) is the Gun Show at Del Mar. Got me a shopping list already.
noexcuse4you

So.... have we all agreed on Oct. 12?
Celeste

That looks like our best opportunity!  Let's go for it!
What time do folks want to meet?

noexcuse4you

Doesn't really matter to me.  Are you going to bring that MM regalis, Celeste?
Celeste

Yes -- I'll pm you.
Johnny

We went by there on Sunday but it was closed. We shall be there on the 12th.  And maybe we call all have lunch like we did in Anaheim?
crash714

I'll be able to make it too. Earlier the better

ftorres

Hello All,
I will call Brent to let him know that some of the members are attending this Sunday.
Hopefully he can give you a tour of the place.

francisco

PS Sorry Jonhy for the confusion
Johnny

Saturday? I thought the 12th was on a Sunday....

Cant make it Saturday, gotta work.
Celeste

No -- it's this *SUNDAY*, October 12th.  Shall we plan on meeting there around 10 am?  (That's when they open).
crash714

1000 AM sounds good to me, I'm leaving from the OC if anyone is interested in carpooling with me let me know. I might plan on staying around LA after we are done to do some sightseeing or a food run to Roscoe's or Pink's.

                                          Eric
Johnny

10 am is good for us.

***who's taking donuts?
crash714

Where exactly are we going to meet? Just in the from of the museum?

                                        Eric
noexcuse4you

Inside, or out.  Doesn't matter.  I've got Celeste's and your number so we can find each other.

please let me know as well . i am taking care of my mother on sat. mike now has to take care of his dad who broke his knee cap. if i am free in the am i would like to meet up. i may have to bail if mike is free or if i can help.
Celeste

Hi Guys

I don't carry a cell phone (they give me headaches -- I can't even be around *other* people carrying them).

Anyway, how about we meet at 10 am on the *NORTH* entrance of the Museum (the side facing Exposition Boulevard, with the *statues* of the T-rex and Triceratops fighting, and the fountains)?  (We'll probably hang out for 15 minutes or so to gather up stragglers).

I haven't heard back from Francisco whether that time works for him and his Museum friend yet, though...

Johnny

Cool!!,,,, oye Celeste, it will be 1 Mexican White Chocolate Latte with one Bear Claw for me, then 1 Hot Chai Tea with a blueberry bagel, roasted , cream cheese and then 30 seconds in the micro for my daughter...... "To Go", please and thank you.
noexcuse4you

I've got some bad news.  I'm not going to be able to make it tomorrow.  I have 2 tests and 2 quizzes next week.  I feel bad about it, but I'd rather be a flake than fail my tests.  But hey!  This will mean I'll be able to make it to the Pomona show next weekend!  I guess I'll see you guys there.

Kyle.
Celeste

ALL:

JUST GOT A MESSAGE FROM FRANCISCO, AND HE SAID HIS FRIEND BRENT IS IN LOUISIANA THIS WEEKEND, BUT WILL BE COMING BACK NEXT WEEK WITH MORE SPIDERS FOR THE SPIDER PAVILION.  FRANCISCO IS ALSO AT THE SFBATS MEETING TODAY, RETURNING IN THE WEE HOURS TOMORROW.  WOULD ANYONE PREFER TO GO IN TWO WEEKS INSTEAD (WHEN THERE WILL BE MORE NEW SPIDERS AND BRENT COULD GIVE US THE BEHIND-THE-SCENES TOUR), OR SHOULD WE JUST GO TOMORROW *AND* GO TWO WEEKS FROM TOMORROW (THE 26TH) AS WELL?

-- CELESTE
noexcuse4you

Well, since I won't be able to make it tomorrow... you know my answer Wink
Johnny

Im going tomorrow since I'll be up north camping in two weeks....
Celeste

Well, it looks like we may have at least three people (plus kids) coming tomorrow, so a few of us will be there if anyone else wants to show up around 10 am (Exposition Blvd. entrance).

We'll just see the rest of y'all in two weeks!  (If we don't see you in Pomona next weekend!)  :-)

I'll be there, I have not been to the museum in awhile so I'm looking forward to it. Last time I was there was for a 10k I ran in the area but, didn't get a chance to see any of the museums in the area  Sad

I was a little disappointed when I went two weeks ago.  It was almost entirely filled with USA, specifically Florida, natives.  While I'm sure this is just as exciting as anything else to the general public, I was hoping to see lots more exotic species.  It was also a bit difficult to get any pictures of anything other then the Nephila, as there were few webs within optimal macro photography range.  I assume that's more from people disturbing webs close to the path, and in a venue such as this, there's not much that can be done with it.

But overall, it was quite fun.  I'm getting some Nephila and Argiope egg sacks from Florida, so hopefully my back yard will look similar to the spider pavilion next year Razz
