Steatoda grossa??

When Kassie, my brother and i were out looking for black widows the other night we found tons of these things. We never found a single black widow even though we looked in all the usual spots - but kept finding these things. The Geo was the only different widow type spider we found that night.

i didn't bring any home but took a couple pics. i searched online and came up with Steatoda grossa. Is that what these are? The didn't have an hourglass and appeared very dark brown. i read a bit about them and it sure seems like they have taken over the L. hesperus. i don't know if it is true but i read they even eat them. i'm not exaggerating - these things were EVERYWHERE!!!

We're being invaded by Floridians and Europeans!! Rolling Eyes

We've got a lot of S. grossa......

I don't think that they are taking over the L. hesperus population......

I mean, even L. hesperus would eat L. hesperus if given a chance. Mr. Green

Steven has bred these guys, and I've just done a little. They're fun.
