Steatoda sp. - Salton Sea

Found this gem ~50' from the Salton Sea. The Steatoda's out there seem to feed primarily on ants that wander into their ground based webs under structure.

Oh! this is another thread I meant to respond to in high priority.

Awesome!  Looks gravid.

Suggestion...
pack some fiberish substrate into the bottom of its container (jar works ok) ...mix with moss or bark fibers.  Place a couple pieces of thin bark upon the packed strate then add a pice of screen ...screen should be tight up against the walls and against the bark.  Add some root material so it will hang down to the "bottom" of the jar (once you turn it over).
This is how ive been keeping my steatoda/latros ...at least Im trying to convert most to this setup.
Moist substrate (+ plenty of air though) and a couple good feedings should stimulate sac production.

Slings...if ...I want some.  Wink
