The MOST Mouths To Feed

The MOST Mouths To Feed

What is the highest number of individually caged animals you have had to feed at once?  You can count each cage full of multiple animals as one for the purpose of this count.  Basically i want to know... what is the most containers you have had at once that you had to open up and shlup food and water into?

I think for myself it is something like 1000 - 1100.  I already had something like 250 indi-bugs at the beginning of summer and had many many MANY babies. In one month i had something like 600 new babies!  For probably a month i had over a thousand bugs, each in their own cage, each fed and watered.  I traded a lot, let some of the weaker ones die off, and got back down to around 400-500 before too terribly long.  At my max i had so many 2+ quart/liter tupperwares full of little condiment cups, vials, anything i could keep a little bug in!

I have so many roaches that it's not even funny to try and count them all, but colony-wise, I have about 20 roach colonies, a few dozen t's and scorps, 3 lizards, roughly 30 fish, a mouse, a cat, a dog, and 8 birds.

nice species spread Smile

definitely verging into minizoo territory Smile

Not as many as you Andrew, I think the highest number for me was 350ish+- but thats including all my bugs, reptiles, amphibians, and feeder bugs and rodents..

Geesh I thought 40 was too many   Shocked
GOMER113

The most I've had to feed at once, I believe, is a modest 30.
balam

I currently open/close feed/water 43 containers/enclosures total. :p
What

I think the most I was up to was about 2000, had 4 broods of scorpions, and 2-3 Latro sacs all at once, plus all the other stuff I was keeping.
noexcuse4you

176.  Those ornata slings.  I feed all my other Ts randomly so I never really have to open up each one all at once.

oh, i never fed all 1000 at a go. i would do a hundred or two every day or so and rotate through everyone

Probably when I had two Stagmomantis sp. sacs hatch. About 60 each, so ~120 vials. Never doing that again.

Right now I just counted 102 relatively permanent enclosures in the animal room.

"verging" ::lol::. I took a flying leap into the minizoo territory. I'm jsut now finally getting it back under control.

About a year and a half ago I was up to something like 70 individual enclosures (well over a hundred critters, not counting the individual roaches of 7 different species and the thousands of feeder crickets), and was only getting 3-4 hours of sleep a night.  That was when I had a bunch of baby mantises.

Thankfully, I'm down to about 40 individual enclosures (I haven't added them up recently, but ballpark maybe ~70 critters -- the dogs and cat are not in enclosures!), and most of those don't need to be fed every night.  So I've worked my way back up to 6 or 7 hours of sleep a night (I need *9*).  Cleaning is a whole 'nother story...

I'm at approx. 200 animals to care for in my house right now. This does not include the rescues that stay for short periods of time. It takes 4 hours, twice a week for most major cleanings and feedings for a majority of the animals. There are a few that require daily care.

I have no life......hahahaha

Join the club!

But seriously, my son and my animals pretty much *are* my life these days -- I really don't have time for anything else, besides my more-than-full-time job.
BugMom

I have 56 cages right now.  A total of 183 lives.  Plus 2 dogs that I don't count as pets and 2 kids. Feeding and daily check ups takes 2 hours every day.  Plus extra time later for special care for some of the "special needs" reptiles.  I totally hear you guys when you say you have no life!  I'm right there with you!
Herpetologyfrk

50-100 animals including my reptiles/inverts.

A couple thousand roaches in all....they aren't hard though

Not to much for me =]
Rakie

Only about 40, but to be fair I spent twice as much time (EASILY more) with aquarium maintenance.
Steven

4500 or so individual sling cups ...and most didnt make it for reasons natural plus more due to (overwhelmed) neglect.
Celeste

That's not good, Steven -- ask for help if you need it.
