TImemasHave any of you ever seen any timemas? I would like to keep a few but I can't seem to find any here. Timema's are a type of stick insect found in CA. They're tiny but pretty cool.

Hello rachel,
I have kept T podura from San Diego, but they are hard to keep alive due to the nspecific diet.
I know of some Germans trying to rear them to no avail.
Anyways, you should be able to find them in Spring, check the Pine branches specially the ones lower to the ground.
I will try to dig out info on localities around your area there should be a few species around you.

Francisco,
I am continually amazed at the breadth of your knowledge! You should write a book! (But it would be a very BIG one!)

Thanks Francisco! I did find some info about them and looks like they are major pests in a few parks in Sonoma County so I shouldn't have too much trouble finding them. I'll be sure to post some pics if I'm able to find the little guys.

I love these I had no idea that these were in the hobby. I don't know too much about them but I will do some research tomorrow. It's late here and I need some sleep.
Got any pics of the species you keep?

I don't have any yet. I read there are some in a park in cloverdale somewhere but I have yet to search for them. They aren't as easy to feed as other sticks because their food plant is so specific. Seems like they might be easy to keep though if you had a good food supply.
Hoping to go on some hunting trips soon. I'll let you guys know if I find any!

Hello All,
Even if you have a good supply they are quite difficult to keep in my experience.
I used to keep T podura from San Diego.
