Wow

I have no idea but that's pretty enough to be my 1st ever scorp
What

Perhaps a color form of Centruroides margaritatus?
~Abyss~

hmm...i have no idea I recall once SkinHeadDave described a similar species down south. I think I'll look through some old post. I want one of those.

cacoseraph

i *think* centruroides have a sub aculear protroberance that this one seems to lack

it kinda reminds me ofa  Hadrurus
WBurke17

Whatever it is I want 10 of them Wink
Paradox51483

Well it isnt a Centruroides sp. I do however strongly think that it is either a Vaejovid or a Paruroctonus. The basic body structure is what I am basing that assumption from alone.

Anyway....anybody up for a road trip for some blacklighting in Baja CA?
~Abyss~

::lol:: you know I'm down Looks hadrurus to me to.
Paradox51483

I contacted the photographer and I am going to get some info from him about the GPS location and so on!

I will keep you all updated with anything I receive from him.
josh_r

that is a hadrurus. ive heard there is a cool species found down there with black pincers like that.
Drapion

that a Hadrurus species for sure.. You can tell by the carapace and metasoma.
~Abyss~

well there aren't that many species of Had. out there are they? Maybe it's a color morph of something?
-Eddy
Drapion

There is 6 species of Hadrurus

Hadrurus Thorell, 1876
H. arizonensis Ewing, 1928
H. concolorous Stahnke, 1969
H. hirsutus (Wood, 1863)
H. obscurus Williams, 1970
H. pinteri Stahnke, 1969
H. spadix Stahnke, 1940

And just going by names I would say it's concolorous or pinteri..i've had spadix, arizonensis and obscurus so I know it aint one of them..::lol::
Plus the scorpion Fauna of baja wasn't studies till the late 60's till now so it has to be some thing discovered in recent years.. Hell who know it could be a new species.
~Abyss~

That would be pretty cool. I need to get down there ASAP.

Scorpion Files picture of H. concolorous
~Abyss~

ugh actually scorpion files has a picture of all the ones Drapion listed. If it is in fact a Hadrurus then it probably is Hadrurus aztecus but the picture on Scorpin files is well...

...the link doesnt work unless you input it or post it up as a img.
Drapion

Well it could very well be an undescribed species of Hadrurus

~Abyss~

Yeah caco your forum sucks  Rolling Eyes...It's just the way the adress is written. I want to get my hands on that species whatever it is. I'm a totally down for a trip down to before the new law takes place and I need a passport.

Hello Francisco,

Have you or anyone else identified this beautiful species yet? Thanks!

Judging by the profuse melanic coloration and the setation on metsegs I–III, it appears to be Hadrurus pinteri Stahnke, 1969 (Iuridae).

huh ???? since when is this thing a species???  I always thought it was a scorpion .....    Confused

hehe, was actualy training my new quoting ability  Cool

That is a most striking coloration. . . I am not familiar with many Scorpions but this one sure is in a class of its own (based on looks only).

I remember when i lived in Acapulco we used to have lots of wild roaming gold scorpions (small ones and very venomous)

This one is extremely interesting though.
Jules

Did anyone ever go collecting and find any of this cool species? I'm not really into scorps but this thing is awesome looking. It also looks incredibly well fed or gravid!!  Shocked
~Abyss~

i went, no luck other than a few vajovids. I need specific locations Sad
Zach Valois

This scorpion is Hadrurus pinteri. A very neat Mexican Iurid.
