Heteropoda boiei

Nephila clavata

Calisoga longitarsis

Latrodectus geometricus

Nephila pilipes (insect show)

Steatoda grossa

Agelenopsis aperta

I had an A. trifasciata in my window frame of my bedroom.

It's the one I was telling you about, that you never got to see at the party.

Sadly, it expired just a few weeks ago. Sad

those Argiopes seem to abide by the biological clock more strictly than other types of spider.
Pulk

that's too bad... she didn't leave any eggsacs?

WOW!

First I didn't even know that people kept Argiopes in captivity. That's cool! How long have they been in the hobby? And are there any other species in the hobby besides this one?

Would like to know as I've never seen these in person before.

cacoseraph

well.... these are local to us and i tink they just grabbed them from outside

i have seen pics of someone keeping Argiope lobata in Greece (but it is the same thing. local species that they grabbed as an instant pet)

look for pulk's pics of Argiope argentata. he has some really great shots that capture how silver the spider is in real life.
Pulk

There are are 5 Argiope species native to the US, 3 in SoCal alone. (argentata, trifasciata, aurantia)
there are argentata all over where I live and What gave me the trifasciata  Very Happy

You sir are a bad ass! I love each and every one of these spiders but I have only seen and held the first one.

Bastian Drolshagen

I hate S. grossa...
They´re common to my area (even here in Germany) and use to run all around the appartement where I live with my girlfriend. Those spiders are just everywhere (about 3 weeks ago one crawled over our blanket when we were in bed *trying to get sleep and not what you think Razz* ).
What

I think I deserve some credit on the awesome and huge lynx...  Twisted Evil
cacoseraph

that is a crazy looking lynx. do we have more than one sp locally?
Pulk

i think P viridans is the only local lynx that fits.
