World's nicest spider...

Ok.. Ive gotten fairly comfortable with these  ...so..lets push one around for awhile...

These are only a few pics ...I must have "tormented" (nothing really terrible) this beauty for an hour.  And she remained calm (I mean totally calm) the entire time.

Their legs are amazing! ...like thick fluted tubes that hinge around more like a iron-clad beetles legs.

BTW ...I have been studying/testing the reactions of a small group of these since the day I got them ...slowly & carefully.  I had one of DavidRSs rear up and tag my fan brush a while back ...from what I gather, that behavior is rare for Sicarius, yet it reminded me that shat can happen.
So.. if you go now and pull some mindless monkey see, monkey do and you get tagged ..your problem not mine. Dont come whining on the board about how I encouraged the handling of these.
Johnny

That is the scariest, sickest, most wicked thing Ive ever seen. You wont ever see those on my fingers. No sir !! Only a dimwit would do something like that. Those things are NASTY! I mean, Ive done some crazy things and been careless at times but you will never see my FINGERNAILS like that !

laughing3  too funny.

Steven - incredible pics.  You won't find me near that beauty like that.   notworthy
Krawll

HAHAHAHA, Johnny you're gonna kill me one of those days if you keep making me fall off my chair like that  Razz

Steven , you're right, your spider realy seems to be very docile and calm. I want one ::lol::. I'll put it on my shoulder and go to the mall with it hehehe. Can you imagine people's reactions. Most people here where i'm from are eighter scared of spiders or simply dislike them so i can already hear all the screams i would provoke  . Hehe that would be awesome.

Now i'm pretty sure thats a crab spider but where is that species from? If it's from California maybe Johnny could send me one of those as well Razz  I don't think i would squeeze it and push it around like you did Steven though. With all the things you did to that single one, i'm sure the entire species has had enough ::lol::.

Though Ive seen the common name "crab spider" actually used for this species because of its crab like appearance, its actually not a crab spider proper.  Its a Sicarius (cave spider, sand spider) ...maybe Sicarius terrosus (Nicolet, 1849) (Chile, Argentina, Peru).

Johnny I dont blame u for being grossed out ...my hands are nasty ugly no doubt about it!    Wink  Laughing  Laughing

Of course!  Wink
My hands have been beaten raw from various activities ...hell, almost all the time they be beat.  Majority of the latest wounds have been from a house restoration job im doing ...stucco work man.. grind em up and washed with sand and lime.    Laughing

nope dont mind..not too possessive of cyberspace. Lets use this thread to sort out some assets for the Sicariidae thread I started. Could use some help ...from some different perspectives.

While taking these pics, I was moving the spider around with the end of a paint brush(plastic one) and I can confirm that they are pretty laid back. I just dont have the balls Steven does(not to mention I really like having 10 fingers...).

So, anyways, here are some post molt pics of the girl I have:

Steven

Kevin..great pics! ...cause the only time one sees their true colors is right after they molt.  Ive missed some great molt shots ...could have had a couple perfect "mirror" shots (ya know what I mean...standing over a perfect molt like a shadow.  ...just to rushed or lazy Rolling Eyes )
Thinkin bout trying to remove the sand from one for a shoot ...would be neat to take a bunch of pics while it puts its sandy suit back on.
Krawll

::lol:: Steven make sure your spider is 18+ before you post pictures of her naked Razz

It is interesting, afaik mine still hasnt gotten the normal dusky coloring back(well, as of a week ago). Not totally sure what is going on with it, but I will prolly try to get some more pics when I get home if it is still the reddish color.  Cool
