there are actually relatively few areas that you can not collect inverts in. typically inverts fall through the cracks of the rulesets that govern stuff

IMO any place that is a "Wilderness Park" or "Nature Preserve" should not have inverts collected from them.
I believe it is also state law that you cannot collect from those areas.

hmm... i would have to look it up but wilderness park should be ok. nature preserve might not be
collecting in and of itself is not bad. i mean... a bird is going to eat more bugs in a day than we are going to collect in a month. habitat destruction is the real enemy of species.
in fact, judicious collecting and identifying of species is necesary and helpful to their preservation. it is only when the extent of a species is known that it can be declared endangered or whatever.

The wilderness parks around here are off limits for collecting, just as regional and state parks are.

not to mention there are more birds than collectors, i'm sure (dumb statement, i know, but i wanted to say it). and besides i'm sure there are more people likely to step on them than collect, in the big scheme of things...

I know rangers that will ticket you for trying to take a rock or tree branch out of certain parks . Collecting anything in certain parks is a big no-no, don't risk it and live with a clear conscience.

Rocks?!! ROCKS?!!
Are you freaking kidding me?!!
That's insane. I ♥ rocks especially the round smooth ones.
Damn.
The jumper looks like the ones I see around my house except that the cephalothorax is also striped and is all black and white instead of brown and white and they're tiny.
What are they? I've been wondering ever since I first saw one.
