Take a look closer at the pictures.... Black marking seems too overlap and if you look at the tail section one of the marking is shorter than another. If you count the segments before the bands towards the head section you can actually count that he missed one segment. HEHEHE..Well Im not a expert when it comes to Centipede but you be the judge.

Exactly why would the centipede in the photo on AB be a hoax? I've seen the exact same coloration on a number of centipedes online. So I don't think it could be a hoax.

Or could I be totally confused about something? Confused

i don't know if you have seen *too* many pictures of hardwickei online Wink they are a pretty rare indian centipede

the basic feeling of why it might have been a hoax is that they are just too darn pretty =P

no, he's saying that it's real.

what he means, is.....the only reason people THINK it's a hoax, is because they cant imagine a centipede being so awesome. no one actually knows this species (because of its rarity in the hobby), so they don't believe it exists.

also because the black "smears" into the orange, but that is common w/ centipedes.

yeah, that too.

people don't realize that there is fluidity from plate to plate.

a continuousness of sorts.

Aaaaaaah! I knew about the species from my books although I didn't know that they were in the hobby at all no matter how rare.

That's interesting. I would definitely want to get one of these someday. They're really pretty.

xxx ooo

I ♥ Books! I have so many I don't know how many I have. I go to my local library alot, more the normal actually and check out book pertaining to my 2 favorite subjects languages and insects and spiders. I also get pretty bouncy when they put out the free books.

I know I'm a geek. And I'm proud to be one.
Mr. Green

I also dig Encyclopedias too. Old and new. Must have like 1000 random ones from different years and what not. My room is a total mess because I have so many things in there. I collect alot of stuff too so that's another reason.

What's the name of the book? I wanna check it out.

xxx ooo

Embarassed Oh.....I'm not sure which one I'll have to check. Although when I was looking at the book at the time I had no idea that these were in the hobby or anything about them for that matter. It just showed a picture of one and the scientific name and that it's.

It was in the chapter about Centipedes and Millipedes. Other then that I'm completely clueless. I'll definitely look through some of my books to see if they have one in there.

xxx ooo

As far as a possible photoshop type of hoax ...I will say no.
The sheen/lighting reflection and blur seen on the dark plates would be VERY difficult to fudge without telltale digital artifice. I have a few friends that are experts with photoshop and I know they could fool us for a spell, but I doubt this guy has those skills nor the time and desire to try and pull something like that off.

I have pondered shopping up some really amazing looking Ts and pedes ..sell them on the forums for loads of cash and then run away and hide.

... Laughing
