I did not see a thread (or may have missed it) but it I thought it would be cool to post some pics of your T's living quarters and also your set up for storing cages/ slings/ breeders, etc.
I know some of you have some nice shelving systems so post some pics!
Warren!! Stop! You're killin' me. You're neat, clean, organized, arrgghhh . . . Everything I'm not. I feel like such a slob. My stuff aways looks like a tornado hit it. A big tornado. You are my idol. (next to Nesh, of course) _________________ "I hold your opinion above all others, tribe elder." - Neshan W. Sarkisian
I have CDO. It's like OCD, but the letters are in alphabetical order, like they should be.
My one shelf. What I lack in quantity, I make up for in quality Note the empty containers so I can sneak some more in without my girlfriend noticing... That herp haven container in the upper left is filled with vials of slings.
Some of them do have labels, but for the rest I use china marker to right on the glass. ie: the important stuff, molts breeding etc.......
What I lack in quality I make up for in quanity. _________________ “Look down at me and you see a fool;

If you really do not want your girlfriend to notice, get the empty cages set up as if you have something in them. That way, when you do put something in them, she will not notice.
Us women notice everything especially since the containers are empty now. Once they are filled, she will notice that something new has been added.
I will get my pics posted this weekend. Still working on getting the scorps moved into their new houses.

I meant names for your critters silly- "fluffy the Curlyhair, "sweetie" the Rose Hair, "cutie" the Pink Toe, "baby" the Emperor. I was teasing you because I did not see names on your cages.

Wow, Hey now, Shouldn't this post be in another thread-the Burrow perhaps????
This is true. My best friend Yuki (female) notices new spiders/cages even though she only comes to my place once a month or so ::lol::. I'll post my haphazard setups once I get my lazy BUTTto take some pics.

Im finally getting around to posting pics of my set ups.
A. Versicolor set up:
A. Avicularia 10 gal. communal set-up-1 Male and 1 Female
Marital Spat: the female wanted to sit in the web and the male chased her out. I checked on them this morning and the female was back in her web and the male was on the other side of the terrarium. This set up is working well for me so far and They generally get along really well- I have had them in there for almost 10 days now! These two are just an adorable couple. Too bad I wont have any babies.
T. Blondi Palatial Estate:
The newest love of my life-Taz the Spaz: P. Cancerides male. He has a personality plus-The biggest goofball. Chris Young raised him from a little baby. Taz decided to moon the camera. Food is more important than a photo shoot!

No you don't -- when you click the "Post Reply" button, you get an editing window. Beneath that is an "Attach File" link that you can use to upload pix directly from your computer. That's what I do.

Yes, the containers are great. When your collection grows, this is the way to store them. They are mobile, lightweight, stackable, and they hold moisture well.
Like you mentioned in the blondi thread, spiders do not feel the need to burrow as much because it stays warm and dark for them. I do provide hides for each one of them. The T's get indirect lighting during the day and its nice and dark for them at night.
I do keep my T's around 75-80 during the winter and the summer gets around 85. Our office is actually our invert room but the temps are kept in the 80's due to computers/servers. You keep these temps, and babies grow like weeds. 4 Months ago I bought an almost 1 inch P. rufilata sling and now its pushing 3 1/2 inches! Warmth and good meals does wonders. I only feed my adults once a week though. I want them to be around longer.

Yea, the little delis suck but I hate vials more. I love the deli cups but this is strictly a personal preference for storage. If I was shipping, I would use the vials. I am getting good at feeding though. You know who is going to eat and who is not going to eat(premolt). When I first started, it took me hours but now that I split up the feedings, it goes so quickly now.
The bins are wonderful for this. I just pull them all out, check on everyone, water, feed and stack them back in the closet. Im a pro now!
What takes longer is me talking to my spiders and "cooing" to my babies. I have to tell them how cute they are!
Wow Denise - your containers would look nice enough to put on display even if they didn't have spiders in them! _________________ "I hold your opinion above all others, tribe elder." - Neshan W. Sarkisian

WOW!!!
I think you guys are up to something here. I think Andrew posted somewhere else the need to have a care sheet per species.... I personally think housing and set-ups are a great way to start.
Either way I am amazed and humbled to be able to see such large collections.
Warren, you do need to get a life.
Kyle, the same goes for you
and Denise, I just don't have any words...

Where did you get the boxes with the purple handles or what brand are they? I want some of those!
Warren,
We need to make this a sticky!
Hi Jules,
The containers are branded as Sterilite and they come from Target.
The green handles are from Walmart. I do not like the green handle containers as much because they are wide. I only got them because I had to house a couple of T's and target was out. I can not imagine why!
Anyhow, I just drill holes on the sides and on top of the lids for ventilation.
