Posted: Thu Feb 21, 2008 3:10 pm Post subject: Hills/Mountains of Monrovia (dial up NO-NO)
My son Randal, friend Robert(non bug guy), and myself, went hiking in the lil trail that I had found. The main trail goes back ¾ to 1 mi. then it splits off in different directions, one goes up the mountain appx. 7mi.(this will be next) then the one we took that goes back a couple of miles to a 35’ waterfall.
There really wasn’t much for bugs as the hills are very granite like(I did find a very interesting colored jerusulam cricket( http://scabies.myfreeforum.org/sutra10615.php#10615 ) and a water beetle. And for mulch/leaf litter this is the place

Here you can just make out the ocean and Catalina
Heres a nice lil bridge we had to cross
And a nice cave that did have some kind of inhabitant in it
And on the why back I noticed this lil fire happening in the city below……

I found this place w/ my gps cuz without it you'll never find it. just looks like a driveway to a house. theres a lower area that i want to try to get down to, that is really green/lush and it looks to have better soil then this trail. and the higher trail(7mi) one will get you very hi up(meet some hikers that were on there way down(thats how we found out about the waterfall)) were going to try next Fri. the 29 if weather permits... _________________ “Look down at me and you see a fool;
