There may be people who like centipedes. I have seen people handling tarantulas and scorpions, but never a centipede handler. I would regard such a person with deep suspicion...Now what sort of man or woman or monster would stroke a centipede on its underbelly "And here is my big good centipede." If such a man exists, I say kill him without more ado. He is a traitor to the human race.
Negative to Neutral
(this is a very late review, as i had never had to post anything but positive... but i am a big boy now and think people deserve to hear this when making decisions of who to buy from)
Dexter was running some kind of sale back in January 2006 that had some pretty good prices. I emailed to him explaining that i have a requirement that orders are shipped so that they should arrive on Wednesday, my day off. Dexter said:

As per your order, Delivery on Wednesday is not a problem, when you pay for your order simply specify the address and when you would like you package delivered as well as any other requirements that you may have and we will make sure it gets there at that time and in the conditions that you specified.
So i happily ordered from him, eager to set up my self sustaining feeder empire
I placed a fairly large order (over $100, that is a large order for me) and paid via paypal on Jan. 23, 2006:

Jan. 26, 2006 eCheck Sent Cleared Details -$132.00 USD
with this note attached:

delivery: USPS Priority to paypal address. Please ship out on a monday, for a hopeful Wednesday arrival......
THANKS DOUBLED's!!!
and then i waited for my bugs... and waited. around 2.5-3 weeks after my paypal had cleared i sent Dexter an email inquiring as to the status of my order and this was his reply:
Andrew, How are you?
I saw your email yesterday but I did not get the full gist of it until later on that evening when I re-read it.
It appears that you have not received your package as of yet...
I did a bit or research and this is what I found out.
Your package was shipped out on the 1st of Feb, sent next day air to your location and this is the info that I just got from the
post office.
Notice Left, February 03, 2006, 10:06 am, RIALTO, CA 92376

Now we have not received the package back as of yet but it is safe to assume that it is in transit but we can re ship you the
items on the 20th a Monday and hopefully it will arrive on Wednesday without any hassles.
The tracking information for your package was EQ283404160US
You can check the www.usps.com web site to see who if anyone was there to accept it.
We assumed that since we did not hear back form you that you received the package and was satisfied, it appears that was not the
case, but as stated we will reship you the items on the 20th.
I have a few problems with this. I told him my business was conditional on being able to ship out for an arrival on wednesday, which he said was no problem. The package was priority (which was the method we agreed on) shipped out on Feb. 01, 2006... which IS a wednesday... delivery attempted Thursday while i was at work, delivery attempted Friday while i was at work. Further, i was not PM'ed nor messaged that the package was shipped and never found any noticed by the post office. Finding no notices is not Dexter's problem, but if he had messaged me i would have taken action BEFORE the package had been lost in transit for 2 weeks!
Shipping out on Feb 20th would probably have worked, it was a monday... but i got an email Wednesday when i was waiting for my package at home:
Thank you for your recent order, Due to Presidents Day and post office closures we where over whelmed with orders and was unable
to ship on time, we are sorry for any delays this might has caused you.
Your package was successfully shipped out today Feb. 22 through USPS. You can visit there site at www.usps.com to track and
confirm delivery status. Your tracking information is as followed: 03051720000010158124
If you have any questions please feel free to contact us. We appreciate your patience and your patronage and look forward to
Now, my masters at work are generally kind to me and i have *some* latitude with my work schedule... but every day i miss is a huge chunk that is missing from my paycheck so i had to figure was the order for more than i would lose for missing another day of work... in this case, the order WAS worth missing a day of work... so i waited at my house all day, most of which was spent rather uncomfortably by the front door. i never got the package... so i emailed dexter again and asked what was up and this was his reply
so the package was missed on Thursday, i suspect the PO pulled a fast one, so that is not Dexter's fault... i believe i got my package either on Friday or the following Monday. The order was in medium shambles. Around 1/3 to 1/2 of the mealworms were dead... and since they were shipped in a cloth bag their rot juices had spilled over other orders... the whole package smelled like rotten sea food when i opened it. There were some to many DOA in both roach orders which also had stink all their own. I seperated out the dead from the three species and put them in their colony tanks.
Now, this next part is not specifically provable, per se... but again, i think people deserve to know. I feed and water most of my bugs on a weekly rotation, doing most caretaking during the weekend. Since i have a lot of bugs i can't always see every cage unless i take them down from a shelf or pull out a tote i store a lot of animals in. Consequently i was keeping my mealworm colony on a shelf that prevented me from seeing into it, unless i had actually taken it down to feed and water the little guys. Imagine my complete horror when i took the mealworm colony down to feed it a month or two after i had gotten the order and found it COMPLETELY over run with mites... to the point they were now dispersing from the mealworm colony container to all the other containers around it. One of the main reasons i switched to growing my own feeders was because i was sick of buying stuff at a petstore and getting home to find it mitey and have to throw it away... or worse, feeding them out and having to then recage animals because of mite blooms. I have kept mealworms before for over a year and they never developed a noticable mite problem. i can only assume that the bad delivery and massive die off gave them a good toe hold and then the food and moisture from the food let them have a great grand daddy of a bloom.
Further, i now have two beetle species living in my lobster tank. I am actually kind of happy as they are like mini- and micro- mealworms... but at first i was mad because i didn't know if they were going to harm the colony or what was going on.
In conclusion, while the prices seemed fair to good in the beginning the actual cost to me was too high to ever consider doing business with Dexter again. I feel like if Dexter had carried out his end of the deal in the beginning i would not have had to miss an extra day of work and my order would not have been half dead when i finally got it. I have never recovered from the mite bloom i believe he was the source of and have spent easily over $100 just in replacing substrate everytime a container is getting overwhelmed. The only reason i said "Negative to Neutral" was because Dexter was very polite the whole time and did replace the order with no fuss
