Nice people, clean shop.  Decent (3.75 out of 5 stars) display/keeping inverts. High scabies influence. Wink

Stopped by there to pick up some bulk coco-fibre.  Got the big block ...$75 or so.  Stocked up on the stuff now.  Rolling Eyes  Very Happy  Also, picked up a male Hadogenes troglodytes.  LOOOOONG arse tail ...HAS to be a boy! Hope he's up for the job.  Razz

OK ...cant say I wasnt completely warned about this product ...but ...dammit..
This coco-fibre I bought from Pet/Jungle seems to have some nasty light green mold spores in it.
I might try and return the major bulk of it ...havent used very much and now I really dont want to.
Out 75 bucks ...unless theres some other way to deal with the problem ...and that means time ..so screwed is the convenience of having a big block of fiber for whenever ya need it.

i had problems with the super block i bought there, too.  i used it all up and it worked out ok, though.  i think i let it set in my hot car and hot apartment for quite a while after i noticed it was spore-ridden, though. don't know if the car gets hot enough to deactive/kill spores but it *seems* like it helped

If such a man exists, I say kill him without more ado. He is a traitor to the human race.

I've had that problem w/ all the different coco-fiber stuff from all makers, but it's only happened when i used it it damp/humod inveiroments. and had no ill effects exept its ugly looking..
If your going to the BBq Steven bag it up into smaller portions and sell it and or donate some to the raffle.....

Try saturating it with water then microwaving it... That *might* kill off the spores.

but that also might kill off any good fungus that keeps the bad fungus in check.

the good fungus might act *kind* of like a Keystone Predator (Paine, R.T. 1995)

its not exactly a KP, but the concept is close enough
