Heres a report from a bite that happened to my son Dyaln aka BugBoy at his school a couple of weeks ago.The bite happened on a Friday afternoon and the school only bandaged it up and sent him on his way even after he told them he was pretty sure it was from a widow.
So after the doctor visit on Monday morning the school got an ear full from me in a big way..
It really sux that some of the schools budget cut backs included school nurses...
Pics are kinda graphic.
This is what it looked like when he first told me about it

once we pretty much new what had happened we started to give him hot compresses and cleaning it with bentadine(sp?) red stuff.
after a couple hours of doing this it opened up and started oozing and you could fell the heat coming out of his knee.

After about 48hrs this is what it looked like

wow that looks necrotic. when mike got bit he gets pustules (plumber - crawling under houses) but not the wide open sore thing. he was not exposed to any staff stuff? some school have it. my nephew is on a wrestling team and has had an infection but luckily it was not a resistant strain.
